[Perhaps the background of Maurtia Falls is recognizable; Atsushi stands outside of his assigned government housing, having just been dropped off. He looks startled when the video starts, as if he's been struggling to figure the device out for a while now. At least it's kept him distracted from being afraid, though.]

... Oh, there! Yes, hello! Thank you for your time.

I'm Atsushi Nakajima and I'm in... uh. Maurtia? Is where the man said I was being dropped off. I've done my best to read the brochure that I was given, so I think that I'm up to speed. [This does not mean that he understands much of what he read.]

I was told there might be other people in this house. Maurtia Falls #007, I think? [He holds up his keys.] But I'm not sure if they're home. I don't want to stress them out by letting myself in, or break any house rules, or touch anything that I shouldn't... I also don't know how to contact them.

Where can I go that will be out of the way? Is there anywhere? I'm not familiar with the area yet.

[He looks like he might end the message there, but hesitates. Atsushi is trying hard not to think of home yet; He knows it'll stress him out and leave him useless. But a concern regarding his home does occur to him. Perhaps seeming immature, as it demonstrates his inability to acknowledge that he's in a new world;]

And... I'm not sure if they're here, but... This is America, right? If anyone from the Guild made it back here safely... I'm from the Armed Detective Agency in Yokohama City. Can you please contact me? I want to know that you're okay.

Thank you very much!

Good guys my ass.

[The face that comes into view glares into his screen, not bothering to hide his contempt. How it's possible to judge the network so early is a mystery, but somehow he's managed to.]

Good guys don't waste my time with shitty assignments and craptoos. What the fuck is an anger management facility?! It's better off bein' recycled into fireworks-

[His free hand, cupping his chin, twitches, tense and restless. Blowing up his newly assigned workplace would certainly help soothe his anger, but it's probably illegal. Shame. As disgruntled as the teen appears, Katsuki didn't come on the network to complain. He scoffs, takes a breath, and:]

OKAY, LISTEN UP!!!

I'm looking for anyone from UA- hell, anyone from our rival schools. People with quirks. Whatever. If you don't know what I mean, answer this:

How do I make some real money in this shithole? Enough money to start my own agency.

Don't waste my time telling me you don't got any answers, or I'll kill ya.

[He slams his hand down on the table. And if he accidentally singes the table, well. It was an ugly table to begin with.]

[When the camera came on, it would show her seated at an older wooden desk. And she allowed herself to look significantly more relaxed.]

Well, a number of you who said I'd move on quickly...you're right. This [she gestured around her with just a note of pride] is my new office. Bit of a risk, I know, but it's what I'm good at. And can do some good with, for the moment at least.

So I've opened up a private detective agency, the Iceheart Agency.

[Oh she loved that name. She had a good cover story for it, but it was an open reminder to any Imperials out there of who she was, and the authority she held. A coded gathering signal, really, all things said and done.]

It's early days yet, but I've been handling a few cold cases, and I'm hopeful to coordinate with local law enforcement to take more of that off their hands. I'm also in the business of locating whatever you need. Anything else you can think to bring me, please do.

[She leaned forward, hands folded in front of her, her entire attitude helpful and open.]

As I said before, I'm here to help.

I've been in this world way too long and I'm curious and bored, so humor me for a second: Is there anyone here who came from a world that *didn't* have magic/supernatural things/the ideas of other universes and time travel/etc., in it, and this is one big mess to you? Because it seems like most of us imPorts come from places where at least one of those things are at least semi-commonly known.

[ yep that's the whole post. ]

[ he's spent his time since arrival largely in a sort of traumatized fugue, locked in his bedroom in the housing he was provided, probably alarming and upsetting his housemates. if martin were here, he'd have probably already adjusted-- gently bullying jon into cleaning up, feeding him tea, making him sleep. holding him when the nightmares started. .. jon likes to think that he doesn't take martin for granted any longer, and hasn't in months, but.. god, it's so hard not having him here.

still, he'd begun slowly to get himself together, even to make a foray or two onto the network to learn what he could. and now.. now he needs to address the metaphorical elephant in the room. ]

My name is Jonathan Sims. At home, I was the head archivist of an organization called the Magnus Institute, which is an academic institution dedicated to researching the esoteric and paranormal. [ which is.. true, in that he was the archivist.. before the end of the world. ] With that said, the archives took, researched, and filed statements from those that had paranormal experiences they wished to unburden themselves of.

As it appears that I'll be working in a similar capacity here, I'd like to continue my work from home. Therefore, if you're interested in committing your personal experience(s) to paper or to email, I'd be glad to collect them. However, please don't record them in audio or video format.

If you'd like to discuss the details of what that entails, I'll answer any questions I can. Thank you.

[ ooc; anyone in maurtia falls 006 may also find their secretive hobo-gremlin housemate finally out of his room, showered and looking like he's in withdrawal as he attempts to make tea in the kitchen for himself without shaking to pieces. good luck with that. ]

[ It's the morning of May 16th and this is the first time Rachel's reached out to the network since her arrival. Not knowing who this video will reach makes her feel a little uneasy, especially with what it's regarding. But she's beginning to familiarize herself with the realities of this place and she understands that sometimes changes need to be made.

She's sitting up straight with good posture. Her hair is pulled back in a neat low ponytail and her expression is soft. ]

Hello. My name is Rachel Dawes. I had arrived recently and learned some things through the people I've met. [ A smile forms - it's small and honest. ] Detective Loki, if this reaches you: thank you.

[ That same smile fades. This, to her, is business, after all. ]

When I was pulled here from my world [ will she ever get used to saying such things? ], I was an assistant district attorney - though, unfortunate circumstances had me appointed acting D.A. before coming here. [ Okay, Rach. They don't need a full resume. She shifts in her seat. ]

I'm searching for some information on how one might go about setting up their own practice? I've been assigned the job as a conflict mediator, but I'd really like to make more of an impact, if possible.

[ She'd work towards making it possible, truth be told. ]

[MacCready spent his entire life not having any contact with the outside world. Or rather, not having much contact with the outside world, so he's not used to being able to just...communicate this easily. Sounds great and convenient and all, except the ease of it just makes him uneasy. You could say he actually misses being isolated from the rest of the world. Quite frankly, the rest of the world sucks.

But he ain't the mayor anymore. Well, he is, but he's not anywhere near his town to be a mayor. Besides, even if it was far sooner than he anticipated, he always knew there had to be a day when he would leave Little Lamplight and make a life for himself. Granted, he plans to get the fuck back, but right now that ain't a possibility. He has to get his shit together.

Tell you one thing; shit like this is making him consider getting his affairs in order as soon as he gets back home. He's not going to be twelve forever.]

So, there's always one poor bastard stuck at the head of a group, right? Be honest. Which one of you is it?

[It would be good information to know. There's always someone unofficially in charge, or they act like it. To him, it's just common sense and an easy question to answer. The way someone answers will tell him plenty anyway.]

More importantly, what's a guy gotta do to get some explosives around here?

[This is also a totally normal and perfectly reasonable question to him okay.]

[ The feed turns on, and there's movement as Adam figures out where to aim his phone. He's in his bedroom, complete with undone bed, and the feed settles on a black and white cat lying on it, looking none too pleased.]

Well... [ Says a voice that's far too deep to be a child, from behind the camera.] Guess it got us too.

[ The cat growls, ears flat.]

At least you're still the same size.

[ Adam turns the camera to himself, and there's a familiar face - anyone who knew him during the Cape and Cowl period will notice he looks about the same as then: roughly 17 years old, with a wild mess of blonde curls. Not shown is a pajama that doesn't quite fit right, right at this moment.

He just kind of purses his lips and shrugs. ]

[The teenager who's face appears on screen may look familiar - to any who know John Morris or Quentin Beck or Detective David Loki. Which one he is may be unclear at first, unless the more tech savvy are paying attention. There's some attitude and a bit of a smirk as he speaks.]

So this place is pretty great.

No restrictions. I'm left alone. I've got a place to myself although it's weird because I can't find Conyers on the map and I've never heard of Maurtia Falls. But that's what it says on all the signposts about the city.

Still, I'm not complaining. Conyers is a hellhole. I'd be glad if it was erased from the map.

[It only exists on his Earth, at least the one in Pennsylvania.]

You've got other weird stuff going on here too. Something about superpowers? As if that's real. As if anyone really gets saved from terrible things by some caped superhero. Even if you get out, the demons follow you around.

[He pauses and looks away, introspective for a moment. Then he shakes his head.]

But I'm out. I'm staying out. Freedom is great.

[The video feed is shaky, but then the boy thoughtfully sets the communicator on a table. Even though he's not a hundred percent sure what it is, the seven year old clearly doesn't want to break it, and he chews his lip worriedly for a second before scooting it a teeny bit back on the desk before talking.]

H-hello. Uh, ah, I don't... I don't want to bother anyone, but... [the young child's English is heavily accented, and he murmurs something in Arabic along the lines of 'kayfa taqūlu kalimah...', looking uncertain,] if someone can find my Ummi and Baba, please do. I'm not supposed to go places alone. I have an appointment tomorrow [he stumbles over the big words slightly] so I can get confirmed as the Seer and that's really important. People will be scared if I'm not there, and Ummi is probably scared already, so... please, get me home? Please?

[He starts to reach for the communicator to turn it off, then pauses to add,] If you have gloves that fit me, can someone bring me them? I need - I - I would like that very much. Um, thank you.

[Remember that dude that was rambling only a few weeks ago about doing stuff for young imPorts? Do you recognize his face enough to recognize him in the eleven year old who has stolen a hoodie from a housemate. Which has its hood pulled up. Which mostly, but doesn't completely, hide the pale yellow feathers over the top of his head. No, he will not be talking about those, thanks.]

So, when I said I wanted to help young imPorts, this wasn't what I meant.

Does, uh, anyone have a step-stool for a kitchen? Or who is willing to run out and get one for me? I need to make dinner but I am having issues reaching some of the pantry like this.

[He holds the camera a bit further away so he can be seen in relation to the counter in the kitchen. He wasn't a TALL eleven year old, okay? His growth spurt was when he was fourteen and right now he's only about four and a half feet and there are some annoyances here.]

And don't make any jokes. I may be in a kid's body, but I'm still capable of getting pay back.

Also, does anyone know what the FUCK is going on?

[Please don't lecture him for his language.]

I just want to make pasta primavera for dinner.

[And he definitely has that bit of whining that pre-teens get when they're told to do something they don't want to do.]

[ Ah, there is Lillie, sitting on what's probably the living room couch. She's trying so very hard to look serious, but every so often her fingers will just wiggle, and the entire time it's obvious she's trying not to show her excitement. ]

Hello! I just turned thirteen yesterday, and I have a few questions! I'm a teenager now, but my mother never really talked to me about what that meant, and I understand that my books with teenagers probably weren't trying to tell me what being a teenager is really like.

So, I'm here to ask: What do teenagers do anyway?

Your advice on stalkers, if you please.
The sort who, even after multiple complaints to authorities, seem to take such things as simply "part of the chase."
I'm unclear at what point one hires a mercenary or just assaults the person outright; I don't read about that happening much, despite the almost cult-like fervor some people have in pursuing people like us.

Thank you.

There's a lot of talk about heroes in this world and while there are many of you who come from worlds with super powers, some of us came from ordinary Earths with regular problems.

I've been called a hero back home. I'm not comfortable with that title. I was just doing my job and helping people; protecting them is part of my job, as a member of the police force. As a detective, I do the best I can to solve crimes, whether or not this results in the best outcome for the victims. I can't always predict that. There are too many factors and variables and sometimes it's just too late. I'm too late. I would never claim to be perfect.

Police work isn't easy but I'm not looking for recognition or praise.

So what do you think makes a true hero? Their actions? Knowing about their actions?

I didn't have fancy powers until I arrived here. I admit they can be useful as I can now heal someone without having to rush them to the nearest hospital. But this is still part of my job, serving the public to the best of my ability. If you save one person, does that make you a hero? If you couldn't save another, is that a failure? How much is really in your control?

Or do we just do all that we can and not be heroes or failures. It's not about success. It's about doing the right thing - or keeping the hell out of the way of those just trying to live their lives or do their jobs.

[Well, here’s a face you don’t see…ever, really. Wolfwood comments on the network from time to time, but he’s never posted to it himself before, and he typically favors voice. He faces the camera with a smile and gives a lazy wave.] Hey. I don’t use this thing much, so I should probably introduce myself. The name’s Wolfwood. It’s nice to meet you.

[He leans back. Still relaxed, but his expression growing a little more serious.] I wanted to talk about a place in Maurtia Falls called the Endeavor Center. A lot of you have probably heard of it – it was started and run by imPorts until they Ported out. It’s a place for kids to come and participate in all sorts of stuff. After-school programs, classes they wouldn’t be able to take normally, counselling, stuff like that.

They’ve been getting by thanks to local volunteers, but they could use some more help. People to teach classes, keep the younger kids from running everywhere, or just keep the place clean. So if you’ve got some time, stop by. I’m there most afternoons these days, or you can just mention that I told you about it.

[Thoughts have been forming in his mind for a few weeks now, and he's decided that it's finally time to share those thoughts with the rest of the network. Lucky you.]

I'm sure by now at least most of us are familiar with the tendency of the swear-ins to end in some sort of potentially life-threatening incident. Convenient, isn't it, that it happens when there's a large group of imPorts all in the same place? When it's expected that a large group of us will be in the same place?

It's enough to make one wonder if perhaps someone's not as eager to have us here as they say they are, and are creating or taking advantage of a situation meant to celebrate our presence.

[Or maybe it's just him who wonders that.]
