[When the camera came on, it would show her seated at an older wooden desk. And she allowed herself to look significantly more relaxed.]

Well, a number of you who said I'd move on quickly...you're right. This [she gestured around her with just a note of pride] is my new office. Bit of a risk, I know, but it's what I'm good at. And can do some good with, for the moment at least.

So I've opened up a private detective agency, the Iceheart Agency.

[Oh she loved that name. She had a good cover story for it, but it was an open reminder to any Imperials out there of who she was, and the authority she held. A coded gathering signal, really, all things said and done.]

It's early days yet, but I've been handling a few cold cases, and I'm hopeful to coordinate with local law enforcement to take more of that off their hands. I'm also in the business of locating whatever you need. Anything else you can think to bring me, please do.

[She leaned forward, hands folded in front of her, her entire attitude helpful and open.]

As I said before, I'm here to help.

The local law enforcement don't always like imPorts intruding on their jurisdiction.

Speaking from experience.

I'm Detective Loki. I also have my own investigative agency here. We co-ordinate with other imPort detectives in each city.

[She smiles and nods her head in greeting.]

Partly why I'm asking politely and above board like this. I truly do mean cold cases. Old missing persons, the things they honestly don't have the resources for.

[She works best in the shadows, after all. Prominent things are not germane to that. Her goals are access and information. And, frankly, even if they refuse she still made the public offer. The best move is one where you win no matter what.]

A pleasure. Hopefully I don't step on your toes. But I think there's enough business in Florida alone that we wouldn't even run into each other.

I'm in Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania. I had also been working on some cold cases.

And no problem. It's good to see more law enforcement around, helping the public and each other.

[She smiled, making a small wave.]

Ysanne Isard. Head of the agency and all that.

It hasn't been too bad, usual imPort problems aside.

Were you a detective back home?

[She effects a rueful smile.]

I wish. It would make the startup process rather easier. No, I was an intelligence analyst. Field agent before that.

[Said openly and in such a non-threatening manner, of course.]

Couldn't you find any similar work here?

[Just curiosity on his part.]

[And a fairly obvious route to go - and she's ready with a dodge. Her slow dance with the CIA will be continuing, quietly.]

Honestly, it's high time I did something different. Gave back a little more directly. And this is vastly less paperwork.

[He chuckles.]

Really? I'd hate to see the paper mountain you've had to deal with then.

Thankfully, most of it was electronic. But I suspect there was some planet somewhere converted just to hold the hard copies.

[She sighs, nodding her head]

Eventually. But I do like to pretend it's all over there, somewhere, for a little while.

[no video, since he can't see video himself. his voice is curious but calm, and there's noise in the background, the sounds of vehicles and people talking.]

It might help if you mentioned your credentials.

I'm not one to brag, and it's not like I could bring certificates with me, alas.

But I was Director of Intelligence where I come from. [She settles into a business-like tone, carefully deleting the word 'Imperial' for now - you never know when a Jedi might be on the line, after all - but the accent is pure Coruscanti, a deliberately baited hook to suss out if he's from her universe or not. Purely a matter of course for someone like her. Everything is a plan within a plan.] I operated a galactic intelligence network for twenty years.

Will that do?

Bragging may be your only option.

[He's noticed the accent. Most people in this city seem to have a Republic accent, so it stands out, though considering how many places people can apparently come from, it doesn't necessarily mean much.]

It sounds like you're a bit overqualified. Though like you pointed out, there's no way to verify.

Should we assume you'll be spying on all of us?

Bold of you to assume I'm not spying on you all already.

[She lets just a note of humour into the statement. It's obviously not true. At least, not yet.]

I apologize, old joke. 'The eyes of the Empire see everything,' they used to tell us.

[It hadn't been true before her, of course, but it very nearly was when she was finished.]

But I can't verify that, I just have to hope people assume I'm not...what's the word? A huckster, yes, that's it. A huckster.

That's quiet a lot of people to spy on. You'd need to build a new network to do it efficiently.

[Though at least the imPort population is limited. Edwon is, of course, already spying, going through the network, seeing what he can learn.]

It's convenient for the Empire if people believe that, isn't it?

[Well, he is fairly humorless, or at least presents that way. Interesting.]

Well, yes, obviously. But as I said, my statement was in jest.

And I would assume so. I was not privy to strategy at high levels.

[A lie that would easily fool anyone who didn't know how an Imperial structure worked, regardless of the era it was in. But an obvious nod to the few.]

[He's too used to spies to take that as a real joke. Plus, it's always interesting how people react when pushed about those jokes.]

A Director of Intelligence who wasn't privy to strategies? Was the title an empty one, then?

[And she is trying very hard to appear harmless. Bad jokes are all part of it.]

No, just a dedicated one with a proper chain of command.

[And there was a time - oh, there was a time - where she'd have been able to have his mind scrambled for the implied insult. Her temper had been...potent, then.]

But you've yet to introduce yourself.

That’s a long chain of command. It sounds exhausting.

[He’s not buying it, but he doesn’t feel like calling her out, either. ]

Edwon. I’ve had some dealings with intelligence agents in the past, actually.

[If he's in her business, he's not meant to. And his statement is indicative as well.]

[It is also at that point that she switches over to a private channel. Just in case.]

[He doesn’t trust that this is truly private, but he had no intention of sharing any secrets to begin with. Though the fact that she switched tells him a lot.]

Recently. I do similar work on a freelance basis, so I’ve ended up with a few stories to tell, if you were curious. Like that time I got between a Hutt and his carnovian eels.

It’s a good story to share over a drink.

[Neither does she, but it narrows the range of potential problems, as she has no idea who he actually is.]

I think I could be described as that, yes. Getting between a Hutt and his meal is either incredibly brave or catastrophically stupid - I'm interested in which it turns out to be.
