My name is Deanna Troi. I've spent the past several days since my arrival reading what I can about this world.

( so far only the device but she'll get to the libraries at some point )

Which makes me curious about where each of us is from, what each of our homeworlds are. It can be quite lonely in itself being taken from your home, particularly if there is no-one else here that we know. ( there's a brief pause. she's aware that this is supposed to be earth if an earth from a different time, perhaps with a different history given that earth didn't give people 'powers' in her reality ) Sharing something, a detail that you enjoy, a story of your friends can help, making you keep them in your heart. I understand that it isn't much or any solution but a little hope can do wonders.

If anyone wanted to talk more I'm a good listener. I may not know your home but I would like to know of it.

I am from a world of heroes and villains, and where there was much chaos. Me and my friends were part of a team who worked to help others and to prevent as much chaos as we could.

[Deanna's post catches Kylo at a lull in creative output, holed up in his study— where, by the precarious mountain of torn out and scrunched up notebook pages erupting from the wastepaper basket behind him, it seems he's been working on writing something for a fair amount of time.

Pretty much everyone in my family loves coffee. Five drinks it black, Klaus likes it with condensed milk, I like it with cinnamon. We were never allowed to have it growing up, so we indulged later.

You'd find it difficult in my world to not find an adult who says the same. I enjoy it but it's not my vice of choice.

I'm sorry to hear that the history was lost. It sounds like you keep it alive where you can.

The world I come from is pretty much the same as this one, just no superpowers. Uh, as far as sharing something goes... the last thing I remember from home was my siblings and I helping my parents cater a wedding for a couple that met at our restaurant. ... everything that could have gone wrong did, but the couple made it through with a smile and it helped my dad remember his passion for his work. ... I want to find that passion again, too.

( it takes her a moment before she answers this. she initially has the prime directive in mind but with how freely others were talking about different planets, space travel or times-- perhaps everyone was more informed. and lives had already been interfered with from the kidnapping and power giving )

My father was from Earth. My mother comes from another planet. Betazed.

They do, though for the minute I don't need one.

( she's also very rarely needed to turn to one, being grounded with a strong support network. it isn't here but she thinks of them )

I didn't have any friends back home to tell stories of [a bit sad if you think about it, but he'd been in a gang after running off from home due to his mother's obsessions over Ultra Beasts.] but my world wasn't much different than here except the pokemon had the powers, not us

It's very different to this one, though I'm familiar with Earth. Though I suppose lately my home hasn't been any world either.

Hi.  I'm Eddie. I'm from Earth too.  It was 1989 back home.  We didn't have porters or powers or these phones without cords. I had the best friends though.  We called ourselves the losers club because we all got bullied.  The thing is we weren't losers when we were together.  We had a lot of fun and we helped each other through some really bad shit too. 

[He pauses.  It's strange to talk about his friends in the past tense.]

We always stick together.  So, the rest of them will show up here.  One of my friends is here already; he got here before me.

I keep what I need of home in a memory palace.  Most of the time, I try to focus on what's here.  There's so much I have here that I couldn't have had back home.  I have a music career, my own home, friends, pets.

I'm from a parallel of Earth that's about... thirty years in the past now. It was sort of like wearing shoes that were one size off. [...] One of my friends from home was brought here for some months last year. I miss her now, but I'm very grateful that we were able to see each other again for a little while.

I'm sorry that she was taken from you. How did you find adjusting to being here? Thirty years is both not very long but it can make quite the different in terms of at least technological developments.

Oh, uh, right, I'm Bart. I guess the Earth I left wasn't that different from here, and there's folks around from it or close enough. But it doesn't mean there's a lot to talk about. Even when people accept that superpowers are real, they still don't always understand what it means to have them.

Besides, most of my stories don't make sense unless you lived them. I mean, back home I regularly hung out with a half-Kryptonian clone, a demigodess descended from the Greek pantheon, and more. What I grew up thinking of a normal weekend was anything but to most folks.

They might not mean anything but there's much to be learned still from an unfamiliar story.

Somewhere where the concept of a "homeworld" may not be universally applicable. The galaxy has more than three million habitable systems, and likely more still that have yet to be discovered and charted. Even without counting refugees, plenty of us have yet to put down roots.

I've met people who didn't consider themselves to have a homeworld. Some later chose their own but others didn't feel any particular draw to a place.

I miss the simple comforting voices of my friends at the end of the day,
and that of my work, as well as the colleagues I work alongside.

Having someone familiar to talk to can be more comforting than we realise until we're without it. People around us offer us so much.

The Porter has a penchant for bringing people connected to one another through to this world. If there's no one here that you recognize, give it time.

Is it really the porter itself that decides who is brought here? The technology itself?

Sure, she might not be able to identify with Deanna Troi much, but Jane still appreciated her role in the television series and her interactions with everyone else on the Enterprise.]

I've done some research and there are a lot of differences between the worlds we all come from. Sometimes it's as simple as being from a different point in history, but other times, it's as vast as two separate universes with differences in evolution, societal development, and even environments. It's really interesting, even though I'm no anthropologist.

I've already heard enough that would make me believe that many people here were from different versions of Earth. Parallel universes in some cases.
