Well, according to the official website, the cherry trees in Washington, DC will be in full bloom soon.

I didn't make an effort to get there this time last year. I think it just slipped my mind that it was coming up and by the time I remembered, they had already passed. That's the trouble with a festival that revolves around beauty and ephemerality.

This year, though, I'm going to make a trip. It's one of my favorite festivals to spend with friends and family at home. We make a picnic of it every year... would anyone like to join me?

Yes, please do! It really is the loveliest time of year, in my opinion, and it's an experience that's best when it's shared.

Yes, I think a few peaceful scenes and quiet companionship will do us all a lot of good.

What kind of a plant is it?

Cherry? It's a fruit tree that's abundant in my home country, and also here. The flowers are beautiful and short-lived. When they bloom and fade, the petals fall like snow all around the tree.

That must be quite a beautiful scene to behold.

It is. People travel great distances to parks and orchards to watch the cherry blossoms fall. And luckily, you can do the same in this country as well.

Yes, especially around the middle of the Atlantic seaboard. They're starting to bloom, but they aren't at their peak yet.

If they're not in full bloom yet, then I have to see for myself.

I do. There's a lot of cherry blossoms growing where I'm from. They usually fall during the spring season.
