Hi, I'm Jennifer and I'm still trying to get my bearings with, well, everything. Jumping time as well as universes doesn't seem to have helped. So maybe you can. What do you wish you had known when you first got here? What should have been included in the welcome packet but isn't?

[She lifts one of her arms again, this time showing the blown-out seams on her blazer that is her latest wardrobe casualty.] Failing that, does anyone know a good tailor?

I've got a few good tailors I can suggest. And what I'd have liked to know is that people come here from a lot of different versions of the universe. Including a wide variation of worlds you might know. You could run into someone you know is a villain, and you can't get... well, you can't Avenge things they haven't done here. Sometimes they try and be better.

The one and only. Well, at least as far as I know. Multiple universes makes it complicated, right?

[Her ego isn't that huge, most of the time, but it's always nice to be recognized. Especially when that hints that she might be a little closer to home than it feels like.]

Don't randomly punch people just because they deserved it in my experience? Got it. [She pauses, clearly as a joke.] Probably. People having the room for growth sounds good. Or at least not ominous. Maybe even hopeful?

And I will definitely take the tailor recommendation.

My experience of the multiverse tells me that you're not likely the one and only, but you're the only one we've got here.

[She keeps the note on De Chima. She might be in Heropa currently, but she's good at destroying clothing pretty much anywhere.]

My experience says there's always at least an evil universe one. Not having to deal with that here, yet anyway, isn't bad.

[She catches the ID and looks a little surprised as she scans Wanda's face again.] Possibly awkward question, but do you ever go by something like 'the Scarlet Witch'?

It should! And yes, I did. Do. I know quite a bit about a couple other versions of myself, but in my universe my magic is more limited.

Well, then I guess it's not super weird if I say I know/knew a different version of you? Like, we're not the closest, but close enough. If that makes sense?

Because then I might have to keep it a regular kind of thing.

Personally, I wish I'd been told about cars. First day I was here someone nearly ran me over.

Yeaaaah, that doesn't sound fun at all. I'm guessing there were a few other not so fun learning curves for you.

More than a few. First time I tried ice cream I got brain freeze, and lucky me someone explained how a credit card works before I racked up any debt.

That seems weirdly hopeful? Like, I can roll with some pretty weird punches, and getting messed with is just kind of part of life at this point.

Exactly. It sometimes seems like a bad place when those punches hit, but the truth is, it is still a pretty amazing place, with amazing people.

[ He nods as he grins at her.

He sends a link to the two tailors he uses to repair and make clothing for him. ]

I think it's just a matter of being willing to roll with it, and keep on going.

[Well hey, there's a potentially familiar voice. Only any distortion from, say, a particular piece of creepy headgear is conspicuously absent. Something that usually means he's working on something, which might also explain the preference for an audio response over any other format.]

The locals aren't much of a threat. The unusual phenomena that can occur, however, is capable of far more.

Since my arrival, I have come dangerously close to dying on two separate occasions. And I have yet to reach the one-year marker.

[Well, it's not terrible to hear someone she knows answer her, even if they met briefly in the middle of a weird plant man fight.]

Seems to me that the locals have the ability to randomly grab people from multiple universes. That seems like they might have some other things up their sleeves.

But it's good to know the chaos and danger will be consistent.

Jumping time, it really depends on how long the jump is, to you. And what kind of world you come from in the first place. This place is kind of an anomaly, compared to the versions of "modern Earth" many people come from.

The most important information when getting stranded in a new world, though, it's always: what are the best restaurants, and where's the best coffee. Assuming it's a stable enough environment for those kinds of things, I mean. Obviously that's a moot point if your life is in immediate danger the whole time.

[ She speaks with a steady, low tone, though a little blasé at the end. Sometimes you get used to your life being in danger. It's fine. ]

[It's been a busy transition. Jen has barely seen hide nor hair of any of her housemates. At least getting to hear one is at least an improvement.]

It's about a twenty-five-year jump, give or take. Enough to make a lot of the technology people seem pretty comfortable with cutting edge, but not enough that I've never heard of television. Though, having been surrounded by super-science probably takes a little of the edge off.

[She grins at the mention of food and coffee. At least someone has their priorities straight. There are some advantages to having come from a world where she was one of the fairly well known super-powered heroes, the danger is not a big change. And Jennifer is actually kind of weirdly relieved to know that there will still be fights worth the battle.]

So, spill. Food? Coffee? Please tell me there's some kind of take out or delivery?

So, disoriented, but functional? That's not too bad. Mine was the other way; the calendar is almost caught up to the year it was, where I came from. Sometimes I think the short jumps are harder in the long-term. When everything is new, you learn everything, but when enough things are too familiar, it's hard to know where your blind spots are. What makes things different.

As for delivery? Tons. You can get basically anything delivered, including coffee. You'll have to deal with your delivery person wanting an autograph or a picture a good.... eight, nine times out of ten, but they're usually harmless.

How do you feel about Thai?

I'm Jane. Something I'm relieved about is that you don't need to worry about the end of the world.

[Maybe.]

Last November, that was taken care of, so weird events just happen instead. But this universe is more stable than it could be.

Hi Jane. That is very ominously specific information.

Especially since my personal experience says there's never just one threat that might end the world.

But more stable than it cood be sounds like a bonus?

Well, given how a lot of us seem to deal with such things on a regular basis, I thought it would be reassuring?

I guess we'll see if that holds up. More stable is a bonus, though weird things happen every so often.
