A local fertilizer company has taken responsibility for the appearance of basketball-size blooms in local Heropa parks. A test run through a contract with the city proved that its recent Grow Rite fertilizer is slightly too effective, resulting in beautiful blossoms and a week of too-strong hayfever for spring allergy sufferers.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE

The accidental death of a teenage imPort has spurred various communities to talk about the harassment of under-age imPorts and the consequences thereof.

On April 20th fans were following both Catra and Ruby Nakamura when things went horribly wrong. In an attempt to throw Ruby to safety, Catra overflew her mark, ending in the untimely death of her fellow teenage import. Despite attempts by social media to cleanse the images, fans and detractors of both girls continue to circulate pictures and video of the event and its aftermath.

From her place in the hospital, recently ported back in, Ruby had this to say:

“Listen. I. St-. I just wanted to find new shops. Shouldn’t have to play a game of hide-and-seek that ends with me dead. I’m seventeen. I just want to cook food I miss. Leave me alone.”

When approached for her thoughts on the issue Catra echoed similar sentiments to those of Ruby, stating “Leave me alone!” before intimidating the reporter.

These two aren’t the only ones who have strong opinions on the matter. Many imPort teens report excessive disruptions to their daily lives and the daily lives of their peers.

Adam Young says, "I think everyone should leave us alone. We didn't ask to be here. I don't get what people want from us. Someone tried to pet Dog without asking once. Still got that bit of their sleeve somewhere."

At further attempts to ask him questions, reporters found their equipment sparking and, in the case of one microphone, starting to smell of smoke.

When reached for comment, recently returned imPort Momo Yaoyorozu stated, "I found upon porting back in that the people who had been my fans prior to my returning to my home world had grown somewhat mad once they heard I was back. They try to get me not only to sign autographs, but to autograph parts of their body that... I just don't feel comfortable touching. And I know I'm not the only young imPort to face these types of overbearing fans."

Meanwhile, some imPorts are threatening repercussions for those who don’t give them the space they feel they deserve.

“These imPort fans seem to have found out my sister and I arrived around the same time, and that we're brother and sister. They crowded around us and got too close, making us both very uncomfortable, as well as Umbreon and even pulled his tail which got a few of them thrown back with a Dark Pulse.” Gladion, a relatively recent import claimed. “They need to learn not to get in someone's face or they'll end up with more than just a 'nice' push away. The next time they harass my sister and I, I won't be as nice to them as I have been.”

On the other side of the divide are stars like Alicia Montague, an up-and-coming pop singer barely into her own teens.

“I think that a lot of these imPorts need to just be kind to their fans! Giving autographs and hugs and stuff is the least a public figure can do, right? Fans are more likely to respect you if you respect them.”

The fans seem to have similar thoughts. Bubblegum2540, a well-known imPort gossip channel on Bluetube had this to say in one of her videos.

“Everyone is acting like the fans killed that girl. No we didn’t! We just want to bask in the attention of our faves for a little while, is that so wrong? They go running off and doing dangerous things to avoid saying ‘hi’ to those of us that support them through everything! Give us some time and don’t run and maybe people won’t be so desperate for your attention that they follow you into shady alleyways and up fire escapes. Don’t be so crazy y’all!”

Many fans suspect that this conversation will die down soon and that they’ll be able to get back to what really matters; Supporting the imPorts that make their lives fantastic.

Until then however, expect more strife between imPorts and their fans.

Things like what happened here are why I believe there should be a lot more control over the private information of who imPorts are.

And why I intend to provide support to young imPorts. They deserve to not have to deal with this media bullshit that can get them hurt!

How do they find out about us? I didn't do that great of a job of hiding who I was at the start, anyway, but I've always wondered.

Are you registered? Do you go to swear-ins?

Yes. I didn't realise registration was public. Is that something they tell you when you sign up, and I just didn't get it? Locals also show up to swear-ins, but there are some people who only show up long enough to register and then stay away but then get harassed. And I'm pretty sure some unregistered people who don't go to swear-ins have gotten harassed too.

The easiest method has to be the registration events. Taking pictures of us. Writing down our names from books. It's all easily exploitable.

Yeah. That's one of the reasons why when I first started going to Swear-Ins I wore really weird novelty stuff, and even dyed my hair after I registered. I still wish I knew how they found out about those who never go to the events. It's probably some creepy stalking thing. Like having people watching the government housing we're assigned when we first get here or something.

That's just really, really gross. I wonder if there's any way the apps can at least be taken to task for allowing users to stalk actual children and teens. There's gotta be rules against that, unless America's privacy laws continue to be fucking insane in every way possible.

I've experienced enough terrible things that this is just one more thing to add to the pile and deal with when I have the time to have emotions. It still affects me, yeah, but it's going to do a lot less to me than it is to someone who has stronger emotions and a lot less experience with everything being awful. It's not okay, but it's not as bad as it could be.

That girl died because "fans" made her feel unsafe. It isn't anyone's place to decide if her emotions were rational enough, sensible enough. A line was crossed and it is not acceptable.

If you really look up to these people, as people and not public property or convenient symbols, you will respect their boundaries. You will let them do their damn jobs. You will not make the lives they've dedicated to you, to everyone around you, harder to bear.

Oh, and whoever keeps circulating those photos? There will be consequences.

I am honored. She is an inspiring woman, and one of the strongest and bravest people I know. She is one of the world's greatest superheroes, despite most of the world never hearing of Oracle.

[ He speaks quietly and with utter conviction, eyes sparking with it. Forget his crush in Babs. She is still his hero. He has seen her do more things than most people ten times more powerful ever try. ]

Quite a few on the network have been. I've been running around chasing down the fires and crime that has inevitably broken out so I have not really managed to touch bases with anyone before today, not counting my best friend, Bart.

Magic or superscience. we never did figure out if the Fates were one or the other, so who knows what else this is?
