I've recently arrived, and I have a couple of questions. First: Are there really no stars?

Normally I'd be able to sense them - I'm Miraluka, so I don't have eyes - but here there's nothing. And I can feel the heat from a local sun, but as far as I can tell, it's not actually in the sky.

[He sounds really confused, though he's been doing enough digging to both know that the sun is in its rightful place, and to have some idea as to why he can't sense it. He just wants to know how people react to this.]

And so far I've only run into Humans. Are there really no other species here?

And they're all similar planets, with similar history, populated by humans?

So it doesn't worry you? [Now that's strange, at least to him.] No one does anything completely at random. Especially not machines.

My world and this one are a bit similar, but then the story turns very different from mine around the 50's. [ the cold war, mostly. But well- there are also no Ghouls. At all. Kaneki isn't going to mention that, however ] I don't know about other people's, I never asked...

I was told the Porter was built by a Goddess, who is no longer in this universe. [ which is to say - ] So I'm not sure if it's just a machine.

I'm guessing the 50s is when the Porter arrived on this Earth.

[And he supposes he shouldn't be surprised that someone doesn't worry too much about the differences between worlds they'll never be able to visit. It probably doesn't matter.]

Then why would you think it's random?

No, I think the Porter arrived in the 80's or 90's... [ he read something about that, when the first imPorts showed up, but he can't be sure. ]

I mean, since it's not just a machine, it's not just "programming", right? And sometimes living beings don't really have big reasons behind their actions. [ kaneki tilts his head a bit ] I was told the Porter is always unpredictable and doesn't always make sense... [ or rather, he doesn't think it makes sense at all. ]

It might not be a conscious choice, but that doesn't make it random.

Taking away abilities, granting new ones... It could be an experiment, or it could be a game, or there might be some other reasoning behind it, but a lack of information is not a reason to stop considering it. Though I understand some people have been here long enough that they've accept this as their new life.

[And he's new. But he's also the type to always want more information.]

Hm... [ well, Kaneki kept all his powers and the Porter didn't take anything away from him, sadly. He would rather be normal and not be what he is right now. ]

It's hard to find out things about the Porter. I was told the government doesn't let anyone touch it.

I've been told the same. Still, it doesn't hurt to theorize.
