So, what's Black Friday, anyway? Is this some American day of remembrance for a tragedy I don't know about?
And before any of you decide to get cute about it:
1. I'm not from the US, and I'd never been before arriving here
2. I tried searching for the same information about Columbus Day and got what I'm pretty sure are all the same sales advertisements I'm seeing now only with fewer birds

And considering we're usually on like, the front lines between the world and total destruction - I'd say we earned a perk or two.

But the rest--we choose to be here, don't we? It's a choice we make, because we couldn't live with choosing to do nothing. If we stay, it's because of that, not because of any 'perks' we think we've earned.

[ it's probably not the best idea to get into this someone like josh foley. it comes out immediately and maybe a little harshly. ]
Like, that line of thinking is right up there with - hey, because you got this power you never asked for, it's now your responsibility to live your life cleaning up other people's messes and you'll probably die in the field. And hey, maybe the people who hate you will hate you less and won't kill your friends after you're dead because you inspired them to be better or whatever. We're allowed to be rewarded for doing some high-risk, potentially lethal work. We're not martyrs.
