Hey hey HEY everybody! Hizashi Yamada aka Pro Hero Present Mic coming at you today with a couple of questions! Just a little bit of fun since I'm bored and my roommate is a sleepy bastard but is also keeping 4 legged kids out of my hair for the time being.
Question ONE!
I'm used to Christmas being a kind of low key romantic holiday versus all these American traditions, so I'm curious, what's your favorite tradition you've seen in this super mega weird version of the United States? Or back home, yo I'm not picky! Talk to me!
[He's clearly got his camera/device/whatever set up so it's hands-free, considering the finger guns he's firing off in the camera's direction, the big cheesy grin on his face absolutely fitting the radio persona he's putting on. It's so easy to fall back on a professional persona sometimes. He leans back, then spins in his chair before leaning into the camera again.]
Now for something a little more serious! Question TWO!
Got some feelers out for an idea I wanna float along to you cool cats and dogs who might be interested. Calling out to all you ImPort Educators! What kind you ask, well I don't really feel like being too picky right now, but you've gotta be interested in working with ImPort kiddos!
Without explaining too much, "imports" or people with quirks are pretty dang common where I come from! Usually, kiddos start showing out with their quirks at a pretty young age, and it looks like ImPorts with powers of all ages show up here too. I figure it might be a good idea to get a group of adults who've got their powers under control to help teach these kids to grow into their newfound powers. You know? Keep 'em from hurting themselves or others accidentally... Help 'em figure out if the whole Hero gig is what they want to do!
Can't do that on my own though, which is where you guys come in.
I'm definitely looking for help to set up a school that's more suited for ImPort kids who need help harnessing their powers you dig? Get em certified, give em a little step up, and support their basic education too! Most of the kids I taught back home that found themselves here seem pretty frustrated with the native school system, so it seemed natural to support all these kids rather than just the ones that are already my responsibility.
So, if any of you ImPorts wanna give me a ring, you've got my attention now, or you can contact me privately. Tell me about how you'd wanna help and all that jazz.
And before any funny business starts I'm not really looking for this to turn into a debating ground, so let's avoid that whole ordeal, yo!

1. Insurmountable kinds of hot chocolate.
2. Explain to me how these certificates are going to be recognized.
[[Look Ma' no debate.]]

1. Heeeey a guy can get behind that. didn't know u had a sweet tooth. Noted, noted!
2. That's the hard part man. I think the certifications are going to be the kind of thing just to give the kids peace of mind at first. But once you start building a reputation, they'll start having more meaning. The important part's gonna be helping these kiddos not be scared of the powers they've got at their fingertips, yo.
no subject
Now you know.
So you're doing this in an unofficial capacity just for children. Children of what ages? Before you say or think something stupid, I'm not asking for myself.
no subject
It's not really unofficial, I'm definitely getting backing for putting it together, but I get the feeling if a hero wanted to breathe out of their buttholes these guys would throw money at them.
So yeah, it's about the kids, and I guess anyone who's got a quirk that they're not comfortable with.
1/2
Teach them properly.
[[Hizashi knows what properly means. No halfassing.]]
2/2 [Locked at this one]
[[Or it's that he's talked to Toga and already has her working the schools to find out where and what the 1A students are doing. But this seems like a good a ploy as any.
Okay so he doesn't want her to end up in jail and have to make harder choices.]]Video;
[The clear look of excitement, elation, and sheer delight is evident on Ochako's face - she wears her heart on her sleeve, but this is something else entirely. Even if it's not completely the same, having that same tutelage from people she knows and trusts is huge. She well and truly misses her teachers being, well...her teachers, and learning the things she used to.]
I-If there's anything I can do at all to help you, Mic-sensei, please...I really want to!
OH!! And I really like the different kinds of food served at Christmas!! There are so many various kinds and it's all so different and unique and I want to try them all! Oh, and the winter activities too!! Ice skating and playing in the snow, and--oh! Snowball fights!
no subject
[He just laughs fondly about the Christmas activity answer though. Honestly, that all fits her personality.] Your family have a big holiday dinner tradition? That sounds like it!
no subject
[Hopefully he can, though Ochako has the utmost faith in Hizashi - he's a hell of a hard worker, doing as much as he does back home. Still, she is really and truly hoping this all goes through, because having something even vaguely similar to U.A. here in this world would be...so, so great. Her school now is sort of, uhh...terrible? Yeah, it's terrible. Maybe it's the culture shock, or the fact she either gets looked at very highly or very poorly for being an ImPort by her peers and teachers, but...woof.]
Ah...n-n-not my family, no. Not really... [Her parents never really had much to go all out on spending for gifts and food and stuff.] Though it's not really Christmas - more new years - but I am really good at mochi pounding!! My neighborhood would sort of set it up at the little shrine, and I'd always participate! I look forward to it every year!
video;
If there is any way I can help, please do let me know. And I'll attend as a student, of course! Some of the ways the Porter has changed my quirk... I still have a lot of training to do to get a finer control over it.
[ But, she doesn't want to completely blow past his first point. ]
I think my favorite part of Christmas here is all the beautiful decorations. I've been thinking about buying some lights and garland to put up around our house, though-- Ah, maybe I should ask Uraraka-san first...
no subject
Good to hear Yaoyorozu! Your quirk might come in handy if we've got to come up with more specialized equipment when setting things up. I'll let you know though okay?
[He hums thoughtfully.] Decoration does sound like something the two of you should do together, yo. Besides, I get the feeling her quirk might be pretty useful for that sort of thing.
no subject
Oh, and you're right! It is the perfect quirk for hanging high decorations! I'll definitely bring it up with her, then.
video.
Are you suggesting a superhero highschool?
no subject
More or less kinda. The whole "master your quirk and jump into the role of a hero" thing would be optional. It's all about making sure these kids are getting proper training with these powers they've gotten all of a sudden. Not to mention not every power's suited for heroics, and the whole gig's not for everyone anyway.
Like I'm telling some others, the idea that ImPort kids have a unique situation that isn't going to get covered in American History class in some school in new york, you dig?
[He exhales a hum, gesturing with his hand idly.]
UA's hero oriented, but that's back home. I'm not into retrofitting this place with something back home, just something that's better than what we've got. Yeah?
no subject
Yeah, I know, I lived the welcome to puberty enjoy your uncontrolled superpowers life before coming here. [ he presses his lips together in a thing line. ] And that was kind of what my school said, like, we're here to train you and that's all it's going to be. And then things went to hell, and then everyone who survived being at the school was suddenly, like, a child soldier?
What, what I'm asking, is what are you going to do to not do that?
Video
And I'd be glad to help out with the school thing, but I'm not sure if anyone has powers quite like mine. I mean, super strength is pretty common so I'm sure some of them have that, but it's also pretty straightforward and easy to manage. Then there's the acid blood and lizard stuff, but...there's nothing to control there, really.
Re: Video
But yo yo yo, you never know what will work for kids! Sometimes just having someone to look to when they want even generic advice is helpful. Besides, even if it's common strength can really be a monster to tame yo!
Lizard stuff tho... You could probably apply theory to similar powers, don't you think?
Video
Are there other powers that make you want to bask on warm rocks and shed your skin?
video; un: NYCWallcrawler
Don't want ya thinkin' I'm ignoring that first part, so, let's just say my favorite tradition's not really an option here, pal. No offense. But hey, quick question about that second part!
Just so we're clear, this school thing you're talking about: Is that like a superhero school? I mean, I'm kinda curious, since some of the other ki- [SLAM ON THE BRAKES, PARKER, SECRET IDENTITY]- uh, cape 'n tights crowd were talking about it. Coming from someplace where there's a school for that kinda thing, I mean.
[That...probably counts as a recovery, right?]
no subject
Yeah, dude! You might be talking to some of the kids I teach back home. It's pretty common place back where we're coming from, but I'm not looking to create something like that one to one. What works there isn't going to work here.
Different needs, different speeds, you dig? But the general gist is to help kids get used to these powers they've found themselves saddled with. Nothing's more dangerous than someone who's scared of their own power, right?
But it'd hve your usual subjects too. Just cause there's heroics and quirk training going around doesn't mean everything else isn't just as important. Not all quirks are suited to heroism, and no one's here to push that line of work on kids unless it's what they wanna do, anyway.
no subject
[Mostly. Spider-Sense was still kinda finicky and he was still accidentally making pictures when he didn't want to be.]
I'm sorta the first superhero where I'm from- and the only one, for that matter. So even sayin' I'm self-taught'd be kind of a stretch, you know? Whatever I'm not playing by ear I'm swiping from comic books and old tv shows, having somebody givin' me actual pointers on the hero front sounds like a sweet deal.
Voice
I. Uh. Let me get back to you on that.
no subject
What sorts of classes were you working on there?
no subject
It's kinda hard to figure out who is and isn't working there right now imPort wise? Our Principal's been gone like a year and a native has stepped in to take the role. A lot of our teachers were ported out this year, too. I. Actually don't know of any imPorts working there right now, come to think on it... Hmmh. Er, anyway. If I can get in contact with whoever has authority, would you like for me to get them in contact with you so you may be able to team up? I know that as of almost two years ago the school was state of the art and designed to be able to withstand powers going wonky and stuff.
A lot of the goals were to provide outreach to imPorts, and to give them a place to learn both normal school stuff and how to control and use their powers. At least, that's how I remember it.
As for stuff I'm learning... Well I have the typical school things, like maths and science, and English grammar. Though it gets interesting with language based classes because I'm already fluent enough in English that it doesn't translate, so there's the occasional extra tutoring there. There's history, which is sorta sped up I think, so that imPorts have basic ideas when they come in. I know some other students have had different history work than I have, so I think that's adapted to each student. Then there's things like learning to control my powers, which for me mostly involves practice with an observer to make sure I don't start any huge fires, or accidentally fall off of something when I use the teleporation aspect of my powers. I do most of my training with the Justice League though, since I'm a trainee with them.

Seems a shame that there are no training courses here like we have back home. Places where people can just cut loose.
