[When the feed clicks on, someone's obviously showing off. First, a blank notebook opens and turns a few pages of its own volition... before post-it notes stick on it out of nowhere, followed by a few splatters of ink. Castle then turns it on his smiling face.]

Now, as far as superpowers go, throwing ink and paper around isn't the worst thing someone could have. In fact, it's quite fitting for a writer and avid reader like myself. Just imagine all the possibilities... reading without needing to turn the pages, writing a grocery list with a few twists of the finger, putting up wallpaper... okay, maybe it's not THAT cool. But look what else I can do.

[Castle holds the phone up with one hand while writing WAFFLES in his notebook with the other. And lo and behold- a plate of waffles appears. Except one is still frozen and one is slightly burnt, and they only linger a few moments before vanishing.]

... I'm failing at demonstrating my abilities and looking halfway-competent at them, aren't I? Anybody willing to help a writer-turned-sudden-superhero out? You'd have my eternal gratitude as well as a dedication in my next novel.

[He then signs RICHARD CASTLE on the notebook page, and awaits replies.]

A school, huh? Well, I'm certainly willing and able to learn some new tricks, as it were.

Mm. I keep thinking I should look into it, too, but...

[She shrugs, a little sheepishly, a little not.]

I'm still learning how to use my powers, and I've been here since June.

Nothing wrong with that, I say. I mean, I'm sure I'll be having learning experiences myself months from now. Rome wasn't built in a day.

The city... [He hesitates, before elaborating-] Rome was a great city, so the saying means "great things take time and effort to become great, you can't do it in an instant".

Oh! That's a very interesting saying!

[Thoughtful.]

...I guess Rome didn't have alchemists.

[Now it's his turn to look confused.]

Alchemists?

Mm, my best friends are alchemists. They can do some amazing things.

So- the whole turning metal into gold thing was successful where you came from?

That's illegal!

...not that Ed probably hasn't done it.

Huh, really? So what do you do with it, then?

From what I've seen, it's mostly used for fighting. [Her tone is dry at first, then softens as she speaks again.]

But that's what State Alchemists are, human weapons.

... damn. Where I come from, it was... well, just an attempt to make metal into gold that failed pretty spectacularly.

My friends are considered geniuses, because of their alchemic abilities. Ed's the youngest State Alchemist on record.

[She's stating it as a fact, not as something to be proud of.]

Young people shouldn't be made human weapons.

No...which is why he deserted.

Can't say I blame him there. [Aaaaand now he's thinking about Alexis.] I wouldn't want anything like that to happen to my daughter.

I didn't want it to happen to him, either.

Damn. I'm fortunate to not live in that kind of world.

Things are changing though! [Or...working on getting changed.]

I hope so- I hope that it gets better.

That's something I wish would happen, too. At least... not in wars and fighting.
