[When Jennifer turns the camera on, she smiles shyly and hesitates a little before starting to speak:]

So... this stuff that's been going on recently got me thinking. I'm trying to think about long-term plans, since for all I know I could be trapped here a while... [She hesitates again.] Back home, I got recruited for my job straight out of med school, and while I loved it and loved what I did... I think I'd like to open my own practice, too. But there's more than that... [She places her free hand in her lap, looks down at it, then back at the camera.] I also got to go around to other planets where people didn't have easy access to a doctor. To help them with diseases and injuries, and... I'd kinda like to do something like that again. My powers could be a big help with that and mean less equipment to transport... but I'm also only one person.

I don't even really know why I'm putting this out there. I guess my question is- have any imPorts taken a stab at having their own business here?

It doesn't bother you they injected us with nanites without our immediate knowledge? I'm certain that's a violation of our basic human rights right there.

Well... yeah. Yeah, that does worry me... I've had some bad experiences with nantes in the past.

Self-replicating nanites interest me on a professional level, as my team of scientists were able to realize Drexler's grey goo theory... without the consuming-the-whole-world part.

It can be used for good. I've seen it done and done so myself.

But to use that kind of tech on people...

Using it on people is risky, to say the least. I saw nanites do miraculous things, but actually keeping control of them and keeping them acting within certain parameters... that was what we had trouble with. Of course, I guess it's different here, or they wouldn't allow it...

What happened?

Some of them had become sentient, so they formed human bodies and wanted to take over the humans' lives. That was a fun mess for my friends to deal with.

That sounds a little too Body Snatchers. Rebooted Body Snatchers. Yikes.

Seriously. My life was pretty much a science fiction TV show sometimes.

Well, I was being scouted for my job before I even graduated med school- I'm one of those brainy people who skipped grades all over the place, so I was on a lot of radars- so I never specialized in anything. I'm more of a general practitioner, though I do have a fascination with the brain.

[ A woman who's smart and confident in her abilities? Karen loves her already. ]

A prodigy? Good on you, especially using that to help others.

I've been called that, yup! And thank you for saying so- I'm glad I got the opportunity to put my intelligence to good use. I do love what I do a whole lot.
