Governments are notoriously selfish, Ms. Kujo, acting in their own best interest before that of anyone else. Regardless of where you come from, I think that is probably a universal truth.

While not with any explicit certainty, I feel it is a reasonable conclusion to come to: the people back home remain as we left them. That is, I think, the only way to explain the time discrepancies so many of us have encountered.
