[ The Shade, in all his immortal wisdom, seems to be holding his comm away from his face, like he's peering at the screen, holding it as far away as he can, while he peers at it. Finally, he nods, before he starts speaking. ]

Now, now. We're settled in, yes? I thought it was very polite to even give us these fine homes, these jobs, even these fine...tattoos. [ A look from him, a curl of his lip. ] Makes it feel a little more permanent than our usual little trips.

But you know, it's so odd, I was so used to being allowed to go where I please, I heard of few restrictions, beyond the necessity of play along, and yet! Apparently, we're not welcome to leave the country, without first warning our benefactors that we're leaving.

[ He paused, before pulling a sheaf of paper out of seemingly nowhere, shadows lengthening behind him, before light seeps back into the room. He speaks, and it's very obvious he's reading straight from the paper. ]

It is not safe or recommended to travel abroad without government knowledge. Please note that your status will designate AWOL if travel without governmental knowledge becomes habitual.

Indeed. Honestly, I shouldn't have been surprised, and yet, here I am.

Back in the other world is was all the anti-imPort stuff and here it's...whatever the hell is going on. [She knows what's going on but coming up with a witty way to refer to it takes more energy than she has at the moment.]

But France, man, that musta been nice.

France was as beautiful as she often was. It was nice to know that even with this new environment, these new changes -- some things still feel the same.

[She's sighs wistfully.] I always wanted to go to France.

[She's quiet for a few moments as thinks bout France and all it's romantic glory.] Oh well, maybe someday.

True. Although it would be for, like, the best shopping trip ever and things cost money. [A sigh that she's almost dramatic about.]

Are we not receiving payment for these silly jobs?

If you mean the jobs we were assigned, sure. But I'm still going to need a lot of money. [Because she can't steal everything.]

Then perhaps you should save up, if you wanted to shop there.

[Well, she could but then she'd feel bad because a certain someone, Gilbert, has made her grow a bit of a conscious over the past year.]

Ugh, saving money. Shame money from back home didn't transfer.

Or our residences.

[ See, this is why feeling bad is terrible, Kenzi. Shade isn't...exactly...good. ]

Eh, my place wasn't anything I care enough about for it to come over here too. [She gets to live with Gil and eat his cooking, that makes up for the loss of her apartment.

That's okay, Kenzi's not exactly good either.] Point.

I had two homes.

It's a tragedy. Both of them were far nicer than these places.

I'm used to space.

[Two homes, used to space and freedom. Shade is quickly becoming someone Kenzi will gladly schmooze up to in the future.]

Well that's a bummer. And I imagine, you seems like a man with excellent taste.

Excellent and expensive. But those two go hand and hand most of the time.

Sometimes I enjoy paying, but for some things, well, the long-dead will not be aching for riches.

True, true. A fact I could never get my roommate to understand. [While Bo's been a very good influence on Kenzi she's also a bit of a stick in the mud about something things.]

Well, not everyone can understand the allure. You'll just have to find like-minded individuals elsewhere.

Well, she ain't here so it's not exactly something I think about too much. [Except Gil doesn't like it either and he's now a roommate.]

I miss them but they was never here to begin with.
