Hello, Toboe. A parachute is a specially sewn cloth that assists in safely slowing people down from free fall so they may land on the ground after jumping from a tall distance. It's part of a measure meant to make leaping off buildings more safe. I'm not sure if it makes it sound any more sane or not.
