 [A network, huh?  Before doing anything, Conan had spent some time observing it. He couldn't help but find anything as convenient as this suspicious.

But even with all the information he had gathered so far, he was still stuck with far more questions than answers. There was no help for it. He was still suspicious, but using the network would be faster than tracking people down individually. And could possibly have the very useful side effect of establishing his reputation here as nothing more than a curious kid.

He opens up the communicator and deliberately fumbles around with it for a bit, before opening the connection and scowling childishly at the camera.]

The people who brought us here are really mean, aren't they? I didn't ask to go on vacation at all!

[Conan smiles, and proceeds to dig for information.]

Ne! So can anyone tell me more about this place! It looks a little like America, right? But it doesn't look familiar at all. And it seems like there are some strange things going on here. Are there really superheroes? But those are just in stories, right? Is it just people in costumes playing tricks?

[Sometimes Conan still couldn't believe that people bought this kind of act.]

[ Hiro may not be the most perceptive guy in the world, but kids are better at knowing when the kids around them feel off. Especially ones who have also pulled the "I'm so tiny and innocent" routine like Hiro has. Still, it's less of a conscious thought and more of a gut feeling.

When you say actual superheroes what do you mean?

[For now Conan was holding back on his immediate skepticism of the entire idea. He needed information, and he suspected he would get more if he seemed to be accepting of the idea.]

not just comic books. people with suits and armor and superpowers that actually go out and help people. or at least they DID do that and now there's stuff to do here. kind of crazy.

[Conan didn't believe a word of it. But if people here had been convinced this was real? There must be some kind of trick to it.]

What kind of stuff? And why do they go out and help people? Is something wrong here?

Considering many have been assigned to work, I don't think I would call this a vacation.

[Regardless, he does look like a child--and she wouldn't leave said child to his own devices. Not here, anyway.] Are you safe, and settled? At least, as best as you might be. Children shouldn't be left without help if they need it.

But it might be fun, I guess. And no, I don't really know anyone here yet. They gave me a building number, but I haven't found it yet.

[Sharp eyes would notice that the woman is slightly worse for wear, but she's hiding it well, though for the second--maybe third, now--time she presses a hand to her neck, applying pressure to a wound that the military had closed upon her arrival.]

You may find you'll learn more about this place while in school than those who are working here.

[Another person communicating through text, was it? Conan takes a moment to process the meaning of the message. It intrigued him a little. That was a much more advanced kind of thinking than many of the responses he had received.

But as much as he would have liked to reply at the same level, he had introduced himself as a kid. He had to keep that facade up, because it was entirely possible for one of them to be in this place somewhere.

How would an intelligent kid respond to something like that? ]

That sounds like a complicated way of thinking about it! What would a useful conclusion be?

A useful conclusion would be to avoid drawing conclusions based on names. Characteristics may be discerned by observation and will suit you better than making comparisons; comparisons breed assumptions and assumptions are always dangerous but especially so when uneducated. Better conclusion: you require a clean slate.

Back home there were people who called themselves superheroes, but they were all just actors.
