If someone were to discover that they possessed an ability that had the potential to endanger the lives of those around them, what sort of options would they be looking at?

Other than resorting to criminal detainment of course, and where learning control is not an option, as it simply doesn't function in a controllable manner.

So essentially what I'm asking is, is it possible to voluntarily arrange for import abilities to be suppressed? Are there any non-permanent options? What sort of side-effects could one expect from undergoing such a process?

You'll have to forgive the lack of details I'm afraid, as they aren't mine to share.

[He's asking for a friend okay. Yeah when's the last time anyone bought that. Still though, it's true.]

Feel free to list any contacts you may have regarding this issue.

Thank you.

[ Junseo is crouched down behind a trashcan in what looks to be an alleyway. The lighting is bad, and it's hard to see his clothing, but for some strange reason a reddish looking liquid is coating his mouth and chin, and a good portion of his shirt is stained with the same dark color. The dark color that looks suspiciously like blood.........

..... It's blood. Surprise.

Junseo looks at the screen for a moment, before pushing himself up to peer over the edge of the trashcan for a few seconds, quickly ducking back down behind it to stare at his communicator once more.

In a stage whisper loud enough that anyone passing by could still hear him--
]

I think I need some help.

[ There's a woman's voice in the background, something along the lines of "What are you doing back there? Are you okay?" followed by Junseo sitting up stalk straight for a minute. That, coincidentally happens to be followed by a horrified gasp and a "What is that?" ]

No... no no.

[ "Is that...?" ]

No?

[ Whatever else the woman has to say is drowned out by the sound of Junseo's shoes pounding pavement as he hightails it out of there, communicator in hand. ]

Nathaniel Hawthorne once wrote, "No man, for any considerable period, can wear one face to himself and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be the true."

During the annual FanPort convention, a whole stew of you pretended to act in one way with the local multitude, all the while knowing such pretense was no representation of who you are. Don't you realize such behavior will lead you to trouble? If you remain happy without knowing who you are inside, you will be the only ones who suffer in the end.

Regardless, I have one simple question for you all: What are the differences between the identities you create for yourselves as imPorts, and the identities the citizens of this country assign to you?

[FanPort and masked alter-egos. Perhaps Crane got triggered because the latter's kind of his thing?

Or maybe he just really, really wants to discuss The Scarlet Letter.]

Names hold importance in my world; they are not given without reason. [This is a sore subject for her in particular.] Generally speaking, Elves are given a mother name and...or...a father name. Thus they begin life with two or three names.

I...only have one and it is...rather simple by Elvish customs. I have considered giving myself a new one in addition.

[Her life has changed dramatically. It seems to call for a new moniker.]

Egledhron has occurred - it means exile in Sindarin - but Nainie appeals too. [She takes a breath. Both names are depressing, yet she cannot associate herself with good anymore.] Can you think of positive words for me?

I...cannot.
