Hello. My name is Tempo. Some of you may have seen me around the network, but a large amount of you probably haven't. I don't have much to say about the various happenings in the city because I feel like I was transported here at an inopportune time. Still, I am designed with the capability to help people and would like to exercise that ability as much as possible.

Technically, I was designed to survey various geological phenomena and collect data, but helping and protecting people is also something I can do. I work at a temp agency, if anyone needs help finding employment. In return, there is something I may need help with.

I have found a few people who have experience with robots conceptually, but none who have been especially hands-on. I don't need a mechanic now, but if anyone has worked with advanced robotics, I would like to speak to you to keep you in mind for the future. Thank you.

It isn't surprising. Any job would become boring without doing something to make it fun. Though if they're responsible for employment, maybe they could have fun in other ways.

I can understand that. LMN-001 is the same way. My earlier question is about whichever name feels most comfortable for you.

That is a lovely last name. It must fit you, since you chose it. :) It does almost make me wish I could have chosen my name. I love my mother, but I feel she may have named me Tempo based on the conventions of a coworker. I do not have any special interest in music. Or temp work.

hey, that's okay! the longer part of my real name is because of my title. I'm not a queen yet, though it's in the name.

I... don't know if it's within my programming. I've been designated Tempo, Quake Woman, and LMN-001, and there aren't any other names for me.

you'll never know until you try! or hey, if you want a nickname but don't want to designate one for yourself, then just tell me what it is and I'll call you that.

I haven't really given it much thought. It hasn't presented itself as a possibility before now. I... Tempo will do for now. It is my name.

Who is the existing queen of the blue sky, if you aren't ready to take the position yet? If not the sun, it must be someone or something with equally incredible power. Or perhaps a very large bird.

I suspected as much, but that is still disconcerting to hear. Is it that no one has attempted a return trip, or that we are simply not allowed?

Some people just return home for no reason at all. There's no control over that machine.

Maybe. Maybe we have as much control over it as the government does. I met somebody who may be capable of actually communicating with it, though. Maybe he will be able to help us get closer to an answer.

Have you been here very long? I'm surprised more progress hasn't been made towards reverse-engineering a solution yet.

actually? i've only been here a couple of months. some people have been here closer to a year.

You have a month on me, then. I'm surprised that this is such a relatively recent development -- only a year old, or thereabouts. We seem like a fairly well-established fixture. I guess people are willing to accept a lot more when photo ops are involved.

well also apparently there were other imports here like ten years ago? but they were able to send them home. which makes no sense cause why not just use the same ways they were sent home to send us home?!

Really? Maybe something has fundamentally changed since then. Do we have any historical documentation about that? It must exist somewhere. Even if it's classified, we should still have limited access to it.

I wouldn't know where to look though.

Someone must. I can look into it if you'd like. I may have recently made connections that can access that data wherever it is, if they so choose.
