standardization: (they go good in everything.)

video.

[When the video clicks on today, Asami is sitting at a desk at what appears to be her work. It's clear that she doesn't usually use a desk, however, as it's clearly not set up to be an office job. But she's grabbing a few things, and she thought it would be best to do this while she has a moment of downtime.]

Hello again, everyone. [She considers saying something about how busy everything was last month, but others have shared that sentiment. Besides, running around with Team Avatar means she's used to it.] I've already ... mentioned something like this before, but I wanted to say that there was a group like the Hornets back in my world. They felt that changes needed to occur, and they went about it in the most violent manner possible. Seeing it again, hearing their rationales, was ... hard for me. [Though the reason why isn't entirely clear, she's not going to go into it. Not here, not publicly like this.]

But what I've learned from extremist groups like that is that we have to look at their pain and their fears and see what we can do. It doesn't mean that what they think is correct. They went about it in the worst way possible. But I do think that we have a responsibility to help make this world better and safer. I'm no hero, and I'm not really interested in that, but I've decided to dedicate myself to bettering this world either through infrastructure or supplying some of the best hovercars available. Admittedly ... I haven't decided yet. [She gives a sheepish smile here.]

Until I do, I'm going to help out with Heropa. The city doesn't look so good right now, and I'm going to be helping out on weekends to try to help set things right. That's something I can start with, anyway. I'd love some help with it, too. Just contact the native citizens who're involved with clean up, and they're willing to put you to work. [Of course, she knows some people will do things independently, which is fine, too. But this is how she's chosen to go about it.]

Other than that, here's to hoping things are better in the future. [It's an empty hope, most likely. The world moves and changes all the time, after all.]

[ooc: I have put up a log for some of the clean up activities!]

Hovercars. Damn, I've missed a lot. Definitely go for the Hovercars.

Honestly, lady, not really. I'm not even supposed to be here, so I figured I'd just lay low until this all blows over. Where'd you learn to build hovercars, anyway? Can everybody do that or are you special?

[He was pretty floored to learn from another source that apparently, these days, everybody has computing machines, so who knows what else is possible?]

That's a really decent thing to say. Thanks for saying it.

I was right to put my trust in you, Ms. Sato.

[Tempo sounds nothing but pleased, despite the overall tone of Asami's message.]

I'll be helping out in Heropa as well, as long as the locals will have me. I know there's some understandable anti-imPort sentiment right now, and even with a civilian form, it's a little difficult for me to blend in sometimes. Anyway, what sort of infrastructure were you thinking of helping develop?

How're you gonna be settin' things up?

Well, I'll say I don't think I've ever met a lady mechanic, so that's pretty special.

Hm. I like the idea, but...

[the idea of being trapped or forced underground, no matter the reason behind it, can't really settle well with most humans, can it? and the civilians would probably want the imPorts to be the ones in underground bunkers, wouldn't they?]

As far as civilians are concerned, I don't know if they're convinced there are places we can't easily access. And I... don't know if they would like the idea.
abduxel: (but I know just what you runnin' from)

[He laughs a little.] Hey, hey, don't worry about it, doll, I have nothing against it. Wasn't exactly a usual sight myself where I come from. [He gestures at his own face, as if it's obvious.] I think it's pretty awesome. Stick it to the man!

[What a charmer...]

I don't know of any better ways, Ms. Sato. But my concern is that civilians might wonder why they are the ones who have to go into hiding. There is a group similar to the Hornets in my universe, too. Terrorists. And if tensions are already high between imPorts and civilians, some... Hornet loyalists, or something even greater than the Hornets, they may be waiting for what they view as their final injustice before acting.

[she doesn't want to argue. she doesn't really think she is? but all the same she sounds uncertain about having to discuss this at all. she's seen exactly this happen with the Emerald Spears, and with the knowledge from X that they may still be around in her home universe a century into the future, she's especially concerned about this right now.]

No matter how good our intentions are, there are always going to be people who misinterpret them. It is a difficult risk to analyze.

[being from the American twenties, he doesn't catch on that he's being a jerk by modern (and avatar-verse) standards. Sorry, Asami.]

What, not even your parents? Didn't they worry you'd have trouble finding a fella to marry?

[His tone makes it clear that he's mocking, rather than supporting this hypothetical stance... For whatever that's worth.]

[really? hurricanes? she hadn't actually considered what the natural disaster situation was like around here. that's a good point.]

I agree. If nothing else, we can't sit here and do nothing. And overthinking the situation may lead to no action ever being taken. I don't know if you'll require permits or other bureaucracy needs to be fulfilled, but I can help you locate underground obstructions if you'd like. I am equipped to perform low-level sonar surveillance for similar purposes.

And... I may sound selfish, but it may help my own standing with civilians, as well. Technology should not be feared.

I booked a few nights at a hotel just outside Heropa for a few nights. You're right - the city is a mess, and I want to be here to help with the fallout.

[ Korra sighed and crossed her arms. ]

Maybe I'm making this too personal, but I want to do for these people what I failed to do during the Equalist revolution.

That sounds like a pretty good plan, Asami.

[Riku doesn't necessarily feel like he's good at heroing, but it's the thought that counts, right?]

Oh is that so? Well, you're pretty enough I bet it'll be no trouble either way.

[as for her business - he whistles]

Damn! Well, consider me impressed. If I'm in the market for a hover car one day, I'll be sure to come knocking.
