[ A smile lights up her face -- friendly, warm, inviting. And her tone is much the same. ]

My name is Raina. As you can probably guess, I'm new to this world. But that doesn't make me any less fascinated by it. To be drawn here by forces beyond our control, given powers beyond some of our comprehension, and to have an opportunity beyond our wildest dreams to be heroes? I can't be the only one who is excited by the prospect, can I? This world is incredible. Beautiful, even.

[ Her lips purse in thought and she lowers her gaze toward her fingernails -- freshly manicured. It was one of the very first things she did since she got here, apart from buying the lovely flower dress she has on. ]

But there are things that the files and the debriefing can't explain; things that only those with experience in this world can share. And that is what I hope you'll do with me. Share.

[ Raina makes eye contact with the camera again, her smile -- still beautiful in nature -- houses something else. Something almost predatory. ]

What is it that makes you special? We were chosen for one reason or another. Perhaps you aren't aware of the reasons or perhaps you aren't comfortable sharing them over the network. I understand. We all have our secrets. But I hope at least some of you will help me understand your worlds and your lives and you, yourself. Now that we're all given a special power -- what was it that you have done with yours or what is it you will do?

Aside from my good looks? I'm one of the few here who've died and come back. [ AGAIN, HE IS THE WORST. ]

[ Oh. Not so special after all. She knows plenty of people who did that. ]

Do you mean you died back home and were revived here? Or something else?

Died back home, revived back home and died here, revived here. So I suppose that would be something else.

[ A true immortal? That definitely earns her attention. She looks at Dorian as though he's the center of her universe. And when she speaks, she's nearly breathless. ]

I've been waiting my whole life to meet someone like you. Someone with a true gift.

[ There's a pause, Raina leans forward and asks with the utmost awe: ]

How did you do it?

[ just caaaaasually leaving out the part where anybody here can come back from the dead because he sees the way that Raina's looking at him and oh, Dorian loves it. ]

That, my dear, would be telling. And after all, we've just met. We've got so much time to get to know each other before I bore you with the gritty details.

[ Dangling the bait? Raina offers him a cutesy little pout. ]

Will you at least give me a hint?

Since you're so lovely, why not. My name is Dorian Gray. Hopefully you're a voracious reader.

One doesn't have to be a voracious reader to know the story of Dorian Gray.

[ Raina brightens with dark amusement. ]

And I, for one, am quite honored to make your acquaintance, Mr. Gray. Or can I call you Dorian...?

Just call me Dorian. It's much more informal.

And what would you like me to call you? Just Raina?

[ She bites on her bottom lip. ]

You can call me yours.

[ Amusement appears on her face -- she was just teasing. Or was she? It's hard to tell, and ambiguity is what she's going for here. ]

But yes. Just Raina. I don't have any other names to give you, even if I wanted to. There is much even I don't know about myself.

Well, I can't help you on that front, but I would love to help you make new memories. And who knows, maybe you'll discover a little something about yourself when trying someone new.
