Hello, fellow imPorts.

[ A smile lights up her face -- friendly, warm, inviting. And her tone is much the same. ]

My name is Raina. As you can probably guess, I'm new to this world. But that doesn't make me any less fascinated by it. To be drawn here by forces beyond our control, given powers beyond some of our comprehension, and to have an opportunity beyond our wildest dreams to be heroes? I can't be the only one who is excited by the prospect, can I? This world is incredible. Beautiful, even.

[ Her lips purse in thought and she lowers her gaze toward her fingernails -- freshly manicured. It was one of the very first things she did since she got here, apart from buying the lovely flower dress she has on. ]

But there are things that the files and the debriefing can't explain; things that only those with experience in this world can share. And that is what I hope you'll do with me. Share.

[ Raina makes eye contact with the camera again, her smile -- still beautiful in nature -- houses something else. Something almost predatory. ]

What is it that makes you special? We were chosen for one reason or another. Perhaps you aren't aware of the reasons or perhaps you aren't comfortable sharing them over the network. I understand. We all have our secrets. But I hope at least some of you will help me understand your worlds and your lives and you, yourself. Now that we're all given a special power -- what was it that you have done with yours or what is it you will do?

You mean other than the fact half the people here appear to me utter morons? It's like showing up for an important job interview and half of the applicants are mentally retarded. And they still get the job.

[The briefest of pauses before adds as an after thought;]

Unless they're just around to make us feel better.

Well, maybe it's just that they don't know how to behave in front of a television celebrity.

[ Yes, she saw that post. Yes, she listened in on the recorded conversations. Call her a fan. Call her a stalker. She would deny both in the name of researching fascinating people. ]

You do come across as a largely passionate individual. Sometimes people don't know how to react.

Wow, news really does spread fast around here.

[That and it's a public network that everyone can see, but y'know. He'll flatter himself with thinking people are actually talking about him.]

You know, I think that might just be the first time anyone has suggested I'm passionate about anything. [Other than in bed, winkwonk.] I'll take it as a compliment. Does that mean you've been watching me already?

It's impossible not to watch you.

[ She cants her head with interest, offering a coy little smile. ]

Well, this bodes well for my ratings.

[Hopefully he can contain his ego to and extent where he doesn't hulk out.]

I wouldn't mind watching you for a while either.

[ Why keep it in check when it can burst and explode all over his show? It's bound to be entertaining!

Raina looks slightly surprised, a little shy but mostly flattered. ]

I'm hardly entertaining. But if you're good, I could give you some kind of show.

[ Raina winked. ]

[Entertaining for viewers, less so for Jeff.

This conversation is perfectly entertaining though, especially the mention of a show. And here he was trying not to be too forward.]

Well, there's not many ways I can take that. But c'mon, you're a good looking lady, smart, keen, curious. What's not to want? I'm surprised they didn't give you your own show.

It's only meant to be taken one way, Mr. Celebrity~

[ Raina leans in with interest, glowing from his compliments. But after his final remark, there is something else that crosses her face -- thrill, excitement, and pure and utter amazement. ]

This world has given me more than enough. More than I could have even asked for, more than I could even dream.

Right. Superpowers and multidimensional travel? I guess that would be a lot to ask for under normal circumstances.

[Jeff's a man of far simpler pleasures.]

How have you been adjusting since your arrival? You seem to be taking the whole thing well.

Surprisingly well. I take it as it comes, y'know? I guess you could say I'm used to it.

[Except not at all.]

You seem to be dealing pretty well yourself. Some folk would still be in the hysterical screaming stage.

Some folks are not as strong of individuals as you and I. We can't go back home, so why not enjoy things here for however long our stay happens to be?

Exactly. Why fight against what you can't change, right? I for one am just willing to enjoy this whole super power shtick while I still can. Not to mention the free housing and everything else on top of it.

And there are bound to be a lot of fans of your show and you as an imPort. That certainly has to make you feel flattered.

Oh, sure. It's a nice distraction. Here's hoping I can manage to get myself some sort of premier party going on to celebrate my success.

[Because obviously he'll be a success.]

What is it you'll be doing, exactly?

[ Raina teased with a wink before answering his question. ]

They gave me a job doing imPort cellular research. I get to satisfy my curiosity daily and learn more about us right down to our very cells. It was truly kind of them to give me something that suits me well. I've heard some stories of fellow imPorts who received jobs that were....questionable at best and insulting at worst. Seems like this is just another area in which you and I lucked out.

You know, I might just take you up on that. [As if he'd turn down such an offer of dating.

But anyway, yes, jobs. He's doing the suitable amount of eyebrow quirks and head tilts to make himself appear interested.]

Sounds like we did luck out. You're some sort of scientist then?

Yes, I am. But I won't bore you with the details. It's more interesting to talk about you.

Are you a TV personality back home? Or just a lawyer with an award winning personality?

[Wow, she is really keen to keep turning the subject back to him. Good thing he's a narcissistic asshole.]

Actually, no. I uh. I teach law. [Hesitant as he is to admit it.]

[ Welcome to Raina's world -- never about her. Always about you. She doesn't look down at him after his confession. As a matter of fact, she still looks pretty admirable. ]

It takes a lot of enthusiasm, passion and patience to teach. How long have you been teaching?

[Jeff does his very best not to laugh out loud at the mention of enthusiasm and passion. These are things he has very little of when it comes to school. Or anything. Sticking on Planet Earth while he plays on his phone is totally an acceptable teaching method right?!]

A year. Not long. It's really not that interesting. Y'know I'd be totally more into hearing about the cell... thing...

Well, surely it had to be somewhat interesting in order for you to get your own show...

[ Raina smiles at him. NO WE ARE TALKING ABOUT YOU, JEFF. Stop trying to turn the conversation back on her! ]

Well, I mean I was an actual lawyer until like five years ago. Worked for a big firm. Guess I decided I preferred a simpler life away from the rat race... that and they found out I'd faked all my credentials. But y'know. Details.

[At least Jeff has practically zero shame about it all.]

You must have been impressive, though. If you were the one to make the choice to leave that life and choose the simpler life as you called it...
