03 video.

[ The video clicks on to show Newt, but he doesn't really seem focused on the device at all. Staring past it, eyes clouded with... something. The feed jerks around sporadically from shaking hands, and Newt looks filthy on screen, like he's been in one too many fights that he may not have won, covered in dirt and grime, blood and wounds.

After a minute of this, his eyes snap to the screen, clearing with recognition, remembering what he'd turned it on for in the first place. ]

Sorry, I- I'm... not well. I've got the Flare and it's getting worse. [ A deep breath, and he's dragging a trembling hand through his hair. ]

I think I'm contagious, and that means you're all infected unless... there's people called Munies- [ his expression sours at the term ] Immunes, shanks that don't get sick with it. Don't know if they exist here, you're better off going to a hospital, getting tested for disease or somethin'.

Just- for God's sake, don't bloody breathe on anyone until you do or we'll all be dead.

[ private to housemates & castmates ]

I'm not coming back. Don't look for me this time, it's better this way.

[ ooc| this is newt's announcement for the flaring up plot! commence mass hysteria and crank outbreaks and all that fun stuff

eta: here is a catch-all log for plot shenanigans, if you so desire! ]

What happens at the final stage of the virus before death?

[ Carl doesn't know this guy at all, but this whole thing sounds too eerily similar back home. Carl thinks that it will be better to discuss this privately.

No one wants to talk about the option of stopping yourself from killing others in public, after all. ]

That's awful. I faced that back home, although the disease is a little different.

Look, do you have somebody with you?

No. The only major difference is that the virus burns you up with a massive fever. When you die, you come back as a walking corpse going around eating the living. You get infected by bites and scratches, but when so many people died and turned, the dead outnumbered the living.

[ Carl is glad this video is private, because now he's trying to find words, to a stranger who has a similar world to Carl's. Or, at least, a similar disease. ]

I don't . . . I don't know how you and the people back in your world handle this virus. Back home, when we have someone infected, we usually try our best to give our last good-bye, you know?

[ Before the bitten is given a loaded gun, or is given the chance to pass on before being put down for good. ]

All I'm saying, maybe you should have somebody with you. Even if you don't want them to get infected, you have take some precautions. Quarantine is not a guarantee, not with these diseases.

[ He's quiet for another moment, thinking. ]

In my world, we give people a choice, when infected. To die before turn, or let them die naturally.

[ He leans back, eyes hooded. ]

I don't want people to suffer. I may not know you, but I don't want you to suffer too.

If you don't want me to help, that's fine. Just remember my offer still stands.

[ There is no real good way to say, "Hey, here's an offer from a stranger to kill you", is there? ]

[ Fair enough. Carl would have done the same thing. ]

Alright. Just take care of yourself while you still can.
