so i just got here

and yeah i got the whole welcoming spiel so can it

i got separated from my friend somehow but hes gotta be here somewhere. if u see a kid named gon that wears all green and is way to cheerful lemme know.

oh and what happens if u just skip school? theyre telling me i have to go to school when the new semester starts. ive never went to school before though and it sounds like a waste of time.

[Something about the tight-knit government around here, how he arrived, and everything they knew about him just rubbed Killua the wrong way. Normally he wouldn't even care to ask, but he has to wonder if there's some ridiculously disproportionate punishment for playing hooky. He's been here all of a day and he already doesn't trust the place.

The last thing he remembers from home was using Accompany On with Gon. By all means they shouldn't have been separated, and yet they were, which is why he's convinced his friend has to be here somewhere. Not that anyone at the base would tell him.]

But she was fond of Killua and Gon and felt protective over them. She sees Hisoka and Illumi in this entry and tenses. ]

[You'd be surprised at how many times he's stood in a room with Hisoka. But hey, at least that rules out it being his brother. He definitely can't stand him.]

lets meet at the candy shop in heropa

[This way he can spy the entrance from afar and see who's coming. It's also public, making for an easy escape if he needs it.]

[That would be a "yes".

Killua, of course, won't be at the candy shop. He'll be on top of the building across from it, binoculars in hand and watching.]

[ She's not preoccupied with anything, so Kate grabs her purse, wallet and sunglasses and whistles for the dog to come follow her.

Her car is officially dead so she has to walk to the shop, but Heropa is a small enough town and she's done enough running around rooftops over the years that she's still in peak condition. A twenty minute walk is nothing to her, even at her age. Besides, the dog is enjoying all the air and exercise she can get.

She arrives at the store, but she doesn't enter once she can see Killua isn't in the shop. She tips her sunglasses to check the time on her phone and then pushes them back up the bridge of her nose and waits. ]

[Killua has no idea who he's looking for, but he has context on his side. The candy shop isn't terribly busy. A few people walk up in the five minutes before and after his twenty minute marker pass, and he keeps a look out on all of them. None of them are anyone he recognizes, and only two are seen checking their phones (possibly for the time) immediately upon arrival, and only one is keeping wait outside.

Might be her.

Might be one the one who went inside, though.

With one hand he pulls out his phone and makes a text.] im running a little late

[gevurah]

[ She gets the sense she's got eyes on her from somewhere. Could it be Killua? She doesn't look up, though; not wanting to give away the fact she's sharper than the average person just yet.

The vibration in her pocket has her reaching for her communicator. She reads the message sent and then slips it back in, bending over to undo her dog's leash... for whatever reason. The dog doesn't budge, sitting in place quietly and patiently. ]

[Well, that proves it.

Or it was a freak coincidence, but Killua will take his chances. He bounds across a few rooftops until he's closer to the candy shop and then hops down, planning to just casually walk over like he hadn't been spying.

He's even got his hands in his pockets and left his binoculars up on the roof.]

[gevurah]

[ When he appears around the corner, Kate can't help a smile. She doesn't know if he was better off in this world, but she did miss him. She misses Gon and it disappoints her just a little to not see the two of them together. Killua had gone quiet when Alluka was ported out and Gon temporarily, so she imagines Gon not being around isn't easy for him to reconcile.

As for Kate herself, she's surprisingly tall for a woman. Her bare arms reveal not just tattoos on other side, but well-toned muscle. She's fit, if that wasn't already evident from the fact she sparred with Killua once. ]

Killua.

[killectric]

Hm? [He raises his eyebrows, looking to either side of Kate before he actually looks at her.]

Are you the one I was texting?

[gevurah]

Right; I'm Kate.

[ The dog is staring at Killua intently. Kate gestures to Killua and suddenly the dog comes bounding at the boy excitedly, her tail wagging quickly. ]

And this is Schnitzel.

[killectric]

Whoa! [Suddenly, dog at 12 o'clock. Killua braces himself for a possible tackle, and when the dog's within arm's reach he extends a hand, smiling.]

Hey, Schnitzel. [He's pretty sure even Mike was bigger than this as a puppy.]

[gevurah]

[ Kate watches them both, amused between the two of them. ]

Like I said: she missed you.

[killectric]

[Lifting his head to look at her again.] Okay, I guess I believe you. Dogs aren't very good liars.

[He's just being facetious. The fact she recognized him and called him out first had been pretty solid proof enough.]

[gevurah]

I know it's odd to come back to a place you don't remember.

[ It's why she's taking it slow; she doesn't want to overload him.

But she also doesn't know Killua knowing the times she's spoken with Hisoka, trying to obtain information about Illumi, sneaking around behind Gon and Killua's backs so she can keep an eye on them. ]

[killectric]

I'm not sure if "odd" is the word I'd use. [Killua implies harsher words with that flat look he's wearing.

Reaching out now, he pats Schnitzel's head a couple times.] So how long have you been here?

[gevurah]

[ The dog will allow it, pushing her head against Killua's hand affectionately.

Kate braces her hand against her hip, glancing momentarily down the street as if observing someone else before she looks back at Killua. ]

Since last winter.

[ She isn't going to bother for now explaining she had been in another world prior to this one that wasn't hers. It gets complicated. ]
