[When the video comes on Kal is grinning. Which is, admittedly, something he hasn't been doing lately. For once he's near vibrating with nervous energy.]

Hey! Superman here, for those who don't know me. A couple of people have already mentioned what today is for those who don't know what the 4th of July means, and I know there's other barbecues going on so I'll make it short:

I've set up a barbecue on Maurtia Falls, and anyone who wants to come by is invited. It's in the open near the building complex, really easy to find. Bring some food of your own if you'd like, and we'll cook it!

[He goes hang up, but then he thinks better of it and adds:] Oh, and there will be vegan options as well, if you're worried about that.

[And off goes the feed.]

[Crane returns Kal's grin with a warm, pleasant smile. His energy isn't nervous in the least. He's excited.

Hello, Superman.]

How fantastic. I'll bring steak.

[Hey. This is a public post and it did say anyone.]

[Why you gotta be so ruuude. Kal's smile drops from his face in 0,2 seconds, flat. The only good thing is now that they are done pretending he can cut him out honestly.]

I can't exactly kick you out, but I can and will keep an eye on you.

... I'll be on my best behavior.

[The biggest 'eat-shit' smile he can muster alights his face. It's a promise. He'd seen the hurt that had crossed Superman's face that day; so he drops an incendiary bomb into the conversation.]

And I would hope you'll be affording everyone the same attentive care. It would be a disaster if the heat of the day got to people's heads, after all.

[Like it had to his. You remember, don't you? He knows you do.]

[Kal can control his body language with incredible precision. Unless he's caught of guard, he is actually very skilled at masking his emotions- he just doesn't want to most of the time, and instead chooses to be an open book.

Said control is the only reason his eyes are still blue and not a blazing red as he looks at the camera.]

Let's just say that I will make sure certain people do not get close to each other. Wouldn't want me to have to get out the big guns, would we Dr Crane?

No, that would be disastrous.

[Crane's smile doesn't drop from his face, though he controls it with as much precision as Superman holds back his anger - and mutes it. But whilst his eyes are off the camera, there's no hateful, venomous quality to his voice. Threatening him with Batman just won't work. If that's what Kal is getting at.

And he's not afraid of him, either.]

I believe you're grossly underestimating humanity's disposition for raising hell, mind. Some people just cannot be tamed.

[He actually means himself. He isn't happy with Batman and he will nurse that wound for a while even though he was the one that gave him permission to fabricate Kryptonite. But now that all bets are off Crane is getting close to the Bruce over his dead body.]

And I believe you're grossly underestimating my ability to kick people out if needed when I have no reason to hold back.

[A tilt of his head, and Crane is making light of the situation even though he internally cradles the threat close to his heart. His heart. It makes the corners of his lips rise and something about it now seems genuine. Perhaps it's the brightness in his eyes.

Look how scared he is.]

I hope you won't.

[He means it. Bruce is such a disappointment, now.]

Are you expecting trouble, then?

Not at all. I know you're smarter than to cause trouble near me and ruin my good mood.

[There really has been a line crossed there, now that they don't have to hide. Kal won't underestimate Crane because he promised, but that doesn't mean he has to put up with all his teasing and pretend he doesn't read more into it. The thing with Batman might have disappointed Crane but it's opened a completely new door for Kal.

He isn't afraid of him anymore.]

Oh, I wouldn't dream of it, Superman.

[It was a public party. Plenty of people might cause trouble, so why not stir the pot and cause trouble from afar? Though he was soon due to act on his plans. He should be cautious and go to ground just for this moment.]
