For those of you who don't know me, I'm Miles Edgeworth, and I had the misfortune of meeting with our "esteemed" Doctor Crane before he unleashed his research on the university. Seeing as he's still on the loose, here's what I've observed about some of his abilities. Unfortunately, my knowledge is limited, at best. If anyone can elaborate, it would be most appreciated.

1) He has a connection of some kind to crows, and in the past, has used them to spy on others and collect information. He may simply be able to communicate with them, though others have suggested shapeshifting as a possibility. From what I've observed, though, the former seems more likely.

2) He can affect people's emotions with a single touch. In my experience, he was able to instill an almost supernatural calm in me. I do not know if this is the extent of his control, or if he can influence other emotions, as well. It seems that skin to skin contact is required for this ability to take effect, but I still recommend caution, just in case I happen to be mistaken.

While I shared this information with RISE, I apologize for not sharing it with the general public earlier. I also apologize to everyone who was concerned about me and Kay Faraday. I should have announced my presence, and shared what I found out, much earlier.

Speaking of Ms Faraday, she and Franziska von Karma were sent back home earlier this month, for those who missed it. Her own murder of crows seem to be lingering around, though; if anyone is concerned about the differences between her birds and Crane's, please contact me privately.

I'm of the position that dangerous imPorts could stand to face stiffer punishments, if that's what you mean.

More or less. Preferably more, in this case.

What about you, if you don't mind me asking? What do you think Crane deserves?

A proper incarceration, of course. That tends to be the civil course on dealing with threats to society.

[That's what should be done, not what Harry truly thinks Crane deserves. Emotions, such as the desire to beat someone to a pulp, can't overcome civility.

A prison, for starters. A high security institution, at the very least.

The government already provides one for imPorts, thankfully. The length of incarceration, however, leaves much to be desired.

For murder and use of chemical weaponry? I can only imagine.

Long enough to be aware of the probationary periods for imPorts that are hardly worthy of being called crime deterrent. But about five months, all told.

And why do you think they're so lenient on us imPorts? Why do you think they let the worst among us run amok, and punish them with a slap on the wrist?

So the best of us can do the same provided the current tensions come to war. I've gathered. We're supposed to be their heroes, after all.

Perhaps they don't have the resources to keep us indefinitely. Or perhaps they'd rather see us police ourselves as much as possible. It's not especially effective, but it is convenient for them, isn't it?

The imPort community doesn't seem so large as to cause any massive shortages, as far as I've seen. Unless they're expecting some sort of surge out of the Porter. But convenience is a seductive thing for governments, I've found. Are you taking the establishment of RISE as evidence of that?

Not RISE, specifically. Before we continue, though, I would like to make one thing clear: I do not take issue with the organization itself, nor do I have problems with those individuals involved in it. Considering the violence we imPorts face from other imPorts, a collaboration between imPorts and native law enforcement seems like the most effective way to ensure our safety and well-being. As imPorts, we know the issues we face more intimately than the local authorities. However, by working with the authorities, we hold the organization to higher standards, and have a guarantee that it won't descend into senseless mob violence or misguided vigilantism.

That said, it does raise a few questions. When will the government step in against violent imPorts? When *should* they step in against violent imPorts? How much responsibility should they take, and how much will they take? Is the right to handle our own matters a privilege, or is it simply a way to give them plausible deniability should something go awry?

RISE does good work, at least so far. I can only hope that remains the case. However, when natives are hurt, I wouldn't blame them for wanting their own justice done. Both groups deserve rights. Those rights should just be structured carefully to keep from clashing.
