[The video starts up focused on the asphalt for a moment before a hand covers the camera and settles the comm down so it's kind of posed as some hipsterish angle to show a relatively thin guy with long and dark wavy hair. The way he's dressed could probably pass for hipster, complete with some stupid hat and dark sunglasses. He's seated on the curb, probably right outside the imPort residences. He lights up a cigarette before he starts talking.]

You ever have a really fucked up dream and then wake up to go “That was really fucked up”? Yeah? Well, that's what I thought was going on here but I'm not waking up. For a moment I thought I was losing my mind but nope, this is very much my new reality.

[He pauses, taking a drag from his cigarette before slowly letting it out.]

But, no, that's cool. Just drag some unknown from another world here and ask them to be a hero. [He lets out an amused scoff.] I'm no hero but the perks seem to be worth it, right?

Although, I gotta ask, was there not a better city to do this kinda shit out of? Who the hell enjoys this much sun and the heat, God, the fucking heat. I thought superheroes did their thing out of cities like New York and L.A. Guess the comics got it wrong. [He shrugs as he takes another drag.]

Anyway, I'm Cy and I gotta know if there's any actual heroes here. Or, at the least, some kinda ratio of heroes to random folk dragged across time and space.

Thanks in advance. [He flashes a little smile before reaching down to turn off his comm.

[ A smug-looking redhead shows up on the video feed, because if someone was going to ask, they were going to receive. ]

Looking for a real hero, you say? What makes for a real hero? [ Quick, answer before Wally answers for you, Cy. ]

[One brow appears over the top of those dark glasses he has on.]

Why do I get the feeling you're going to tell me?

I dunno. Tell me what you see. [ In usual, show-pony fashion, Wally gestures to himself as if he were on a game show in a sequin dress presenting a brand new car. The boy has an ego. ]

But I'm not the only example around these parts.

A cocky teenager? If that's what makes a hero then I think we're all doomed. [He's teasing. He's read enough comics to know otherwise.]

[ Wally's face falls just a little bit. Just a bit. He's used to people brushing off his boasting by now. ]

I'll have you know that I've saved whole cities before. [ One city. And it was mostly because of his uncle, but no one needs to know that here.

Also, it's clear that Wally doesn't preserve his secret identity much. ]

[Cy shakes his head and lets out an amused snort.]

All on your own? Well, then, consider my faith renewed.

[ He gives the video feed a small squint. ]

Why do I get the feeling that you're being sarcastic? [ Probably because most people are with him. In any case, he shakes his head. ]

Seriously, though. What do you think even makes someone an "actual" hero?

[He grinned and shrugged.

Being from a comic book is what he doesn't say.] I dunno, an actual willingness to help those in need even if it means your own life is at risk?

But also superpowers, which I get everyone has now.

[ Wally blinked and stared for a second, and then broke into an easier grin. ]

Yeah? I've noticed. What'd you end up with?

[It's moments like this that Cy is glad he wears such dark sunglasses. He's a terrible liar but at least the shift of his eyes is hidden while he manages to hide his frown behind his hand as he takes a drag from his cigarette.

He's not ready to tell the truth about what he is but luckily he wasn't exactly a normal human before his turning so that much he can talk about.]

Uh, well, I had a kind of gift back home so it's carried over. Magic and premonition. [One of which didn't actually carry over here, plus it'd weakened significantly since his turning, and the other became entirely unreliable after his turning but still remained.]

[ Why did Cy have to go and use the "M" word? Wally was still trying to adjust his worldview to admit that magic existed, and it was rough going, even after having been possessed by the magic spirit that lived in a helmet.

He twitched a bit. ]

Premonition, huh? How does that work? Some kind of quantum entanglement or tachyon perception? [ Please don't say "magic" again. ]

[Cy quirks a brow at the twitching, what is up with that? Not that he's going to ask.]

Magic, I guess? I dunno, the Ancestors gifted me with it. [Sorry, not sorry, Wally. Of course, Wally trying to science it way does get a little laugh out of Cy.]

[ Wally twitches again and almost groans. What's with all the talk about "ancestors?" ]

Soooo- something genetic. Okay. [ Really. He can be stubborn. ]

Must be a fun ability to have. Might even beat my friend's telepathy, but she gets that from being a Martian.

Technically yes. Magic does run in families and with my family we draw our power from our dead as well as nature.

No, constant stream of voices telling truths and lies is not fun at all and I doubt it could bea-- Wait, Martian? As in an alien? From Mars? [Aliens so aren't a thing back home.]

Depends on what you call a hero. Apparently, the definition's a loose one.

Like I told the cocky kid, someone whose willing to put their life on the line and help out those in need.

[A pause as he takes a drag of his smoke.] And, yeah, I've noticed.

[ Kaworu is rarely at his residence and usually spends the day walking around town like some hobo. However, when he gets tired or needs to drop something at his room (books. mostly books. he sort of wants to read the whole library), he does return.

Which is happening right now. With a collection of books about astronomy and space in his arms, he comes face to face with Cy.

Not that I'm any expert in American geography, but I think L.A. gets some heat and sun, too. Something to consider before you relocate.

[Cy drops his used up cigarette to the ground and crushes it beneath the toe of his boot as Kaworu approaches. He's still sitting on the curb like some loser but he figures anyone else living in the house might enjoy smoke-free air so he's being considerate.]

Hey.

[Cy doesn't smile back, he's too busy curiously eying the stack of books.]

Does it? I've never been, I've only left home once.

[He shrugs.] New York then. Always wanted to visit. [Not really.]

That goes for a lot of people. That doesn't mean they wanna be called heroes.

[Lightning has always had a tiny bit of contempt for the title, even if she does come to appreciate Snow. Being a hero, being so self-satisfied in that role ... it doesn't suit her.]

Then what else do you call someone that actively does that?

Ah, yeah, that one's a little cloudier, I think. Or it always is in the films. I'd get up there quickly, if I were you--if you're going to go back t' being a homebody, you'll want to move house before you get settled in down here.

But, hey, they'll send you wherever you want to go. One of the perks.
