[The video starts up focused on the asphalt for a moment before a hand covers the camera and settles the comm down so it's kind of posed as some hipsterish angle to show a relatively thin guy with long and dark wavy hair. The way he's dressed could probably pass for hipster, complete with some stupid hat and dark sunglasses. He's seated on the curb, probably right outside the imPort residences. He lights up a cigarette before he starts talking.]

You ever have a really fucked up dream and then wake up to go “That was really fucked up”? Yeah? Well, that's what I thought was going on here but I'm not waking up. For a moment I thought I was losing my mind but nope, this is very much my new reality.

[He pauses, taking a drag from his cigarette before slowly letting it out.]

But, no, that's cool. Just drag some unknown from another world here and ask them to be a hero. [He lets out an amused scoff.] I'm no hero but the perks seem to be worth it, right?

Although, I gotta ask, was there not a better city to do this kinda shit out of? Who the hell enjoys this much sun and the heat, God, the fucking heat. I thought superheroes did their thing out of cities like New York and L.A. Guess the comics got it wrong. [He shrugs as he takes another drag.]

Anyway, I'm Cy and I gotta know if there's any actual heroes here. Or, at the least, some kinda ratio of heroes to random folk dragged across time and space.

Thanks in advance. [He flashes a little smile before reaching down to turn off his comm.

Anyone at residence #033 is welcome to come out and see what this guy is doing in the front lawn if he doesn't come in first.]

Why do I get the feeling you're going to tell me?

I dunno. Tell me what you see. [ In usual, show-pony fashion, Wally gestures to himself as if he were on a game show in a sequin dress presenting a brand new car. The boy has an ego. ]

But I'm not the only example around these parts.

Depends on what you call a hero. Apparently, the definition's a loose one.

Like I told the cocky kid, someone whose willing to put their life on the line and help out those in need.

[A pause as he takes a drag of his smoke.] And, yeah, I've noticed.

That goes for a lot of people. That doesn't mean they wanna be called heroes.

[Lightning has always had a tiny bit of contempt for the title, even if she does come to appreciate Snow. Being a hero, being so self-satisfied in that role ... it doesn't suit her.]

[ Kaworu is rarely at his residence and usually spends the day walking around town like some hobo. However, when he gets tired or needs to drop something at his room (books. mostly books. he sort of wants to read the whole library), he does return.

Which is happening right now. With a collection of books about astronomy and space in his arms, he comes face to face with Cy.

[Cy drops his used up cigarette to the ground and crushes it beneath the toe of his boot as Kaworu approaches. He's still sitting on the curb like some loser but he figures anyone else living in the house might enjoy smoke-free air so he's being considerate.]

[Cy doesn't smile back, he's too busy curiously eying the stack of books.]

[ the angel shall approach until he is close enough to Cy, and he is still smiling. The other will soon find out "smiling" is Kaworu's default. ]

You have just arrived as well, correct? [ kaworu is rather new, Cy wasn't there the last day ] I'm Kaworu Nagisa.

Not that I'm any expert in American geography, but I think L.A. gets some heat and sun, too. Something to consider before you relocate.

Does it? I've never been, I've only left home once.

[He shrugs.] New York then. Always wanted to visit. [Not really.]

Ah, yeah, that one's a little cloudier, I think. Or it always is in the films. I'd get up there quickly, if I were you--if you're going to go back t' being a homebody, you'll want to move house before you get settled in down here.

But, hey, they'll send you wherever you want to go. One of the perks.

I enjoy this much sun and heat. But then, that is really the only benefit to the area. The city itself isn't quite as lively as I've grown accustomed to.

[A brow appears over the top of his dark glasses. For one claiming he doesn't like the sun much he sure is still sitting out in it, mostly. The tree in the yard has provided some shade.]

Then it's perfect for you. So far you're the only tally I have in the for category. [And his tally is the only one in the against.]

That's because everyone here has a terrible tendency for whining, especially for the first few weeks. You don't hear me complaining about the occasional cold weather. [ more like constant, but if she said that she'd be complaining. ]

But I doubt most of the people here quite understand heat the way I do.

Right now I picture it like an attempt to outsource heroics. Either that, or if their experiment goes wrong, it's easier to cover up in a small town.

[He is kidding, and also not, because really he doesn't understand what's going on with all of this.]

I'm sure some actual heroes will be more than glad to announce themselves shortly.

[He means Tony, but also people like Kate Bishop, etc. Himself, if he has to.]

I guess if you look at it that way it makes some kind of sense. [He doesn't sound sure about that but, whatever, he's not the one in charge.]

I look forward to meeting them.

It's the best I've got. Either that, or Central Florida has somehow become a prime spot for more than just tourism. Miami, I could understand...

Really? I haven't seen many people go for the whole longjohns crowd if they weren't already involved or used to it by now.

[It'd been a question George had pondered himself honestly. He considers it now and realizes that even in his world the majority of the heroes seemed to originate in highly populated/well known places.]

They might be more concentrated in highly populated areas like New York and L.A. but I was always under the impression that a hero could come from anywhere. The people probably making comics just figured most people wouldn't care to hear about some kid saving a small town that's barely 500 people or something.

[And since you mentioned his place of origin.]

Also, L.A. gets heat and sun too. They call is Sunny California for a reason and honestly I'd prefer it to Florida...but here we are. I think if I visited L.A. it'd feel a little weird to see an alternate version of it. Home but not home.

[Then he adds.]

And I guess you can add me to the hero side of your tally.

I meant headquarters, not origins. [He's well aware that heroes can come from anyway, he's that kid that loved comic books after all.]

I'm not even sure if my home exists here. In fact, I'm certain it doesn't as I know it. Maybe it does as it once was.

[He pauses with his cigarette almost to his mouth and raises a brow. The guy doesn't look like any hero he grew up reading about.]

Oh? Well this tally is starting to look a little lame.

I'm glad it's here. LA sucks. [ There's a 16 or 17 year old standing in the doorway, and, despite the hot weather, he's pretty much looking like he came out of a grunge magazine. He doesn't cross the threshold of the place, though, just watches him from the door frame. ]

[Cy turns to look back at the door with a raised brow. Despite the heat he feels a shiver run down his spine, that feeling that something is off. His expression shifts for a moment, squinting at Tate before he offers a little smile.]

Wouldn't know. I've never been. [He's just not going to say anything to the last bit.]
