☠ A New 1 - Video

[heartstings]

[The video is a little dark -- it's still the early hours of the morning -- but Kenzi can be made out with her messy hair -- some leaves and twigs stuck in it. She looks calm despite her disheveled look, calm unless you get a good look at her eyes. There's a lot of rage there. A lot. Of rage.

Her lips twist for a moment before she presses them together, brow knitting as she closes her eyes and takes a breath.]

This is the last place I want to be right now. Why the hell am I here again? Why couldn't I have just stayed home? Why? Why?

Fucking why?!

I just--

I am so--

[As she speaks her voice shaking a bit, it's clear she's having trouble keeping her emotions in.]

I just need to--

[She lowers the comm as she leans forward, the video is dark as if the comm is pressed against her chest. The audio is a little muffled as Kenzi screams as loud as she possibly can. A scream that lasts for nearly a solid minute. A scream letting out some of that pent up anger and anguish that she's been holding in. The sound of something crashing can be heard, probably just some trees.

After a few moments of relative silence Kenzi's face appears again, a bit red now. She doesn't look at the comm, her eyes focused somewhere else as she raises her left hand to push back her hair. Anyone paying attention will notice a rather sizable ring on her ring finger. When she speaks again it's softer.]

I guess there's no changing anything.

[The corner of her mouth twitches as she glances back at the comm then switches off the feed.]

I'm aware of the inherent bias I might convey, giving that such a world is my natural habitat -- but we don't have people with superpowers. We haven't the physics that can bend time and space, we don't world hop. It's just a normal, sane experience.

[I mean, okay, the real impossibility that is Hannibal Lecter hasn't yet been revealed to Chilton, so he doesn't know any better.]

Yeah, that's all kinda normal for my world. [Normal for her, anyway. She's one of the few humans that knows of the Fae's existence.]

No wonder you're so easy to get along with. [He means it as a gentle joke, a warm inclusion, but no words of that phrase from his mouth can come across as anything short of elitist.]

[heartstings]

Only when I wanna be. [Which isn't with a lot of people because she has trust issues.]

[slightlyoffchilt]

Then I take your conversation as a compliment. I've never felt any difficulty, and I quite often find difficulty in others. [A beat, and he wonders how that might sounds.]

You haven't been gone long at all, as you've noticed. I'm sure your housing arrangements are the same, in fact.

[heartstings]

I'll talk to pretty much anyone. [It's the getting to know her that's the hard part. She spout of lie after lie to keep people from certain truths.]

Yeah, I don't imagine they'd give away someone's room in just a day or two.

[slightlyoffchilt]

Which is a bit of a relief. I mean -- how replaceable would that make us feel? [He seems somewhat indignant at the concept.] But nevertheless, I'm glad our hosts weren't so rude.

[heartstings]

Yeah, I might have had to give them a piece of my mind otherwise.

[slightlyoffchilt]

I can't say I wouldn't have enjoyed seeing that.

[heartstings]

You enjoy watching people get their asses kicked and or chewed out.

[slightlyoffchilt]

It can be entertaining, yes. Especially when I have some investment in one of the parties involved.

[heartstings]

Investment, huh? And why exactly is that? [She doesn't expect a straight answer, she certainly wouldn't give one in such a situation.]

["Friendship" is justified in his mind, since they had lunch that one single time.]

[heartstings]

Anyone that buys me food is a friend, just so long as they keep doing it. [Acquaintance really but the word friend has lost it's meaning in this day and age.]

Is that an invitation for another luncheon?

[heartstings]

Sure, why not? [She doesn't exactly sound thrilled but that can probably be written off as part of her feeling like crap from her trip back home.]

We'll consider it a date, then.
