[There's a bit of rustling at first as he adjusts the phone, but then once he is sure video works, Chad's voice actually comes through very clear and is accompanied by an easy-going smile on his face. He's sitting on the bed in his room in residence #033, balancing a basketball with one hand, because his priorities mean that he hasn't yet figured most things out or even bothered to read up on a lot of what's available, but he's gotten a basketball. What a great hero.]

I kinda grew up reading superhero comics and all, so actually getting to be one is pretty cool in theory. A heads up would have been nice, but at least I didn't have to have my own tragic origin story, that's cool.

But the real problem here is and there's no way to word this well... How do I keep my underwear from ripping, smoking or, y'know, actually bursting into flames? Not that it's done so just yet, but my girlfriend's good at physics. I know what friction can do.

[There really was no way to word this well. However, Chad has definitely found the worst way to word it. Especially since he forgets mentioning that he is asking because one of his power is superspeed. Oops.]

Thanks... [He actually gets over for that to find a notepad to scribble the names down. Why he carries the basketball with him for that is anyone's guess, but given he's keeping the phone turned to his face it's mostly outside the shot anyway.

So secret identity and everything? Wow. I feel like I oughta ask for your autograph or something.

Why did you start using it?

[This really is like a comic book. He sits down by his desk, scribbling down the names from before, although he glances at her every few moments, mostly to not be impolite.]

I can't exactly go around fighting crime using my real name. [ Well, civilian name, but it's still her name and identity she's managed to craft for herself. ] There are people who would use the information against me and the people I care about.

Yeah, that makes sense. I mean, that's how it is in the movies and comics and all. I'm just still wrapping my mind around it. It's weird.

So. You're fighting crime for the government here?

Nobody with superpowers in your world?

[ Sometimes it's a little strange to remember that herself.

She hesitates before shaking her head. ]

Not exactly. I'll lend a help where it's needed, but I'm not signing my name anywhere.

Not really, no. Just in comics and movies. Kinda surreal.

[Kinda really damn cool, too, and although he doesn't voice that part it's pretty obvious from his expression.]

So you're not registered?

Nope and I don't have any plans to.

[ They haven't tried to pull anything on her so far, so she's content to stay Unsettled. ]

Back where I'm from, we don't have the government playing Big Brother.

Yeah, not where I'm from, either. Not officially, anyway, there's always conspiracy theories... [But he just shrugs. Can't grow up in New Mexico without hearing a lot of those.]

I just figure if I stay here and all that, it's my best bet for figuring out why I'm here. Or meeting others from where I'm from if they come here.

I'll be honest with you, Chad; I'm not fond of the idea at all. The tattoo is crossing a line with us. It's not right to be tracked and practically herded like animals.

[ Hell, they didn't tattoo her cat and he's the animal. ]

But I should ask then... you doing alright so far?

Yeah. [He looks down at the tattoo, frowning as he tries to wipe at it. It really doesn't sit right with him, either, but frankly all of this is so surreal he still has a hard time picking the right thing to focus his worries on.]

Weird doesn't cover all of it, but close enough, I guess.

I'm not the most eloquent, but you get the gist. I guess where you're from superheroes are a thing?

Just a daily part of life. Well, depending.

I'm sorry you've found yourself in this situation. They want heroes and yet can't get the darn Porter to make a more careful selection.

Hey! I can be a hero. I mean. I can try.

[Not that he doesn't agree with the sentiment behind her words, but come on. He's not the worst choice possible, right?]

I appreciate the sentiment, but it's not for everyone. It's not exactly a glamorous or safe lifestyle.

If I can help, then I should help. Right?

[ A patient smile, but there's no mistaking the flicker of concern in her gaze. ]

There are all sorts of ways of helping the people and world around us, Chad.

I've powers now. Means I gotta figure them out so I learn how to use them to help. [He doesn't ask her 'right?' again, but it's kind of there in his tone.]

Don't get ahead of yourself. Be careful. Having superpowers is a great responsibility, too.

[ Genuinely concerned now. It is nice that he's probably got altruistic reasons for helping out, but it doesn't mean he should rush into scenarios where he may be in over his head. ]

Don't worry, miss, [He's not going to call someone Power Girl, that's just a bit... too.] I'm not gonna rush out and look for danger. I really gotta figure it all out first, at any rate. Train.

[He absently throws his ball to himself and smiles.] Get a code-name.

What was the superpower the Porter gave you?

Superspeed and energy manipulation. Haven't really figured that one out yet.

I can see where they might be a problem.

[ Regarding clothes. ]

A couple of imPorts had been talking about a facility that helped provide services and train them. Not sure where that is now, but I'll look into it.

Energy manipulation from what? Electricity? Solar?
