...No, wait, hold on a second. This is so awkward. Hello, um, imPorts. My name is Olive. Olive Silverlock. ...And I feel like I'm introducing myself as the new kid in front of my whole class, so this is about as much fun for me as it is for you.

[She pauses, what sounds like a breath being taken slightly audible from the recording.]

So! Yeah. New kid in town. In the world. You know I feel like I heard stories about this kind of thing happening, but it only really happened to the "superheroes" from where I live. Honestly it's so weird and I feel a little bit...guilty, I guess.

Not that this place doesn't seem great, but I'm not...interested in this hero stuff. Seems like such a big deal around here and it just weirds me out. [She pauses again, contemplating for a moment what more to say. Then she remembers something.] My friend though - Maps - would be in love with this place. If she was here I mean. If she was then she'd probably be screaming in my ear right now about getting to be a real life superhero, and going on team missions and stuff like that. I bet she'd get powers that would help her...I dunno, raid dungeons or solve puzzles? She plays a lot of roleplaying games like that sort.

[Are dungeons even a thing here? She has no clue. The town she got placed in seems like a rough area in particular, but no more rough than what she's used to seeing in Gotham City.]

...Well, okay, this is a disaster so I'm going to stop talking now and try to be a normal person.

[Hah. Normal. She wishes to be more normal.]

...Not sure what kind of Candyland game would involve getting eaten. [She smiles a little to herself.] I guess it'd be a morbid spin on it if Lord Licorice was trying to cook you for dinner. Or if Gloppy ate you whole.

Oh - sorry, I just assumed you did cause you brought it up. [Argh.] Well, it's a...kids board game about traveling through Candyland - obviously. And you need to race your friends to the end.

[She really needs to learn not to open her mouth sometimes.]

Well, it is a kid's game. So, I guess it's supposed to be pretty nonsensical. I used to play it with my mom.

Oh. [ A beat. Did he ever play any board games like that? Who knows. Certainly not him. ] Then I guess adorable is the better word, right?

Yeah, it was pretty adorable. I haven't played it in ages, but it just sorta stuck with me. [Playing those games with her mom was one of the nicer times in her childhood, all things considered.] Have you ever played any board games at all?

No. I don't really remember my childhood, if I'm gonna be honest. And my roommates are kind of the worst buzzkills ever.

Oh, I'm sorry. [Forgetting childhood...well it's not the worst thing, but that's her biased opinion.] Shame about your roommates though. Board games are still cool, no matter what people say.

My roommates are total demons, so they'd cheat. A lot. Wouldn't be much fun.

Video games are more my style, but I don't know for sure if I'd turn down a board game. Especially if snacks were involved.

I never really got into video games. I play a little bit of Tetris on my phone, but otherwise that's it. [But she knows she's a little old fashioned compared to most teens her age.] Maybe the schools have game clubs if you feel like going to those?

Not at all. I can eat at home, I sleep at home, and I can talk to people from... Well, here.

I mean, I leave the house occasionally for food. But. It better be really good food.

That's insane. You need fresh air, to meet people in person. It's not healthy being stuck in the same place all the time.

Plus my roommate got sucked into the America hole with me, too, so hey, there's that.

Well, I'm glad you have your roommate but you should try going out and meeting people too. It's not always easy, but it's not so bad.
