[This one may be a little different from the others. For starters, it's a man in full armor sitting on the step of a porch, holding a rather large glass of tea. ...Or, rather, either that's a massive glass or he's not the tallest guy on the block. His shovel lay propped against the porch rail, spade still dotted with a couple of stray fallen leaves.]

Greetings, fellow imPorts! I am Shovel Knight of lands far from here, but it appears my services are needed here. 'Tis not often that one can add 'world-jumping' to their list of life accomplishments, yet here I am nevertheless!

I look forward to the tasks that will be placed before us, and will work to the best of my ability to see them through!

...Though, a question: How might I best hone these new skills bestowed upon me? I find myself able to move earth both with and without my shovel. To make stones dance is entertaining, but I feel I can do more with... w-with it.

[He placed a hand over his chest after that small hiccup. Then, he turned his head to address someone off-camera:]

Madam... what is in this sweet tea?

["Oh, just some bourbon, honey! It's my mama's recipe." The knight turned back to his drink, and is contemplatively silent, until-]

Hmh. So I thought. How many of these have I had...?

[ rose is rather perplexed at the sight of a guy in a suit of armour with not only a shovel of all things but he's also oblivious to the alcohol in his drink? that's like a rookie mistake right there. ]

So I gotta ask. What's the shovel for? Aside from, you know, digging.

[ is he a knight who digs up dirt all day? is the shovel a weapon? shovels weren't exactly very efficient in that department. good for blunt force, bad for stabby stabby. ]

I've delved for treasure just as well as I've defeated the local foliage, indeed, but my mastery of Shovelry allows me to use my trusty blade as a blunt weapon as well as sharp.

'Tis no ordinary garden shovel I wield, you see!

[Setting the glass aside, he fetched up the tool in question. Would you look at that; it's got a pommel, hilt and guard, like any sword. The metal of the spade itself seems keener, finer than something picked up from a home improvement store as well. He fondly brushed the stray leaves off the metal, and gave the tool a twirl.]

I've slain dragons, demons, and even bested a great number of knights who have been led astray by malevolent forces!

That I have! I am to be an apprentice embalmer, and my training began just two days before.

I... haven't quite gotten over the smell of the fluid, but I treat the dead with care. I can't help but think of someone I once knew.

[ Francis' experience is probably best described as 'bemused' because well, this is weird. But he knows drunk, so he seizes on that. ]

Apparently enough that you're a little tipsy.

[ He shrugs. ] I suppose you could build something, if you're at a loss of something to do with your power?

Apparently! I'd never partaken in this 'bourbon' before. My life has been the occasional night of ale at best, but typically it's paired with a wealth of hearty meats and delightful cheeses.

Ah... building? I suppose that's one way to practice. I would hate to dishevel someone's lawn work, however... I'll seek lands less traveled, perhaps.

[ squints suspiciously....well, he definitely can't tell if this person is human or not. His horizons have definitely broadened in the last few days, and to his credit, he's a fast learner.

So you get what looks like...a skeleton...in a cloak..? staring at you from the other side of the comm for a few moments before deciding on what to say. There's a definite Specter Knight vibe here... ]

...There's a training facility. In Nonah. [ His voice is flat and quiet, like he seems reluctant to speak or be heard. ] ...That might help.

[Yacht Club Games will never tell. Shovel Knight is shocked momentarily into silence. Yes, he is very much getting a Spectre Knight vibe... but the voice isn't the same.

He realizes soon enough he's been staring, and brought a hand to his chin. Well, the part of his helmet covering his chin.]

[Here is a tiny child staring at Shovel Knight in wonder and awe. Shovel Knight sounded really cool, like a real hero from far away who went on a grand adventure. Frisk wanted to be friends with them. They don't feel like using their voice for this, so they opt to send a text to the cool knight.]

[It's odd to see the combination, but one he will not pry into. Perhaps text is simply easier for the child. while he was more of a sound and video type. Armor and gloves made for difficult typing. But he offers a friendly wave to Frisk. Oh boy. Gotta tread carefully with this question.]

Bourbon is one of those drinks that grown-ups enjoy, strong-smelling and like fire on the tongue.

But I'm sure you've heard of many strange things people like to eat and drink as they get older.
