Tooru Mutsuki has left.
I'm not sure if anyone knew him or was friends with him- [ which is... sort of sad. Kaneki never asked him about his private life because of... well, being a ghoul, while it was Mutsuki's job to kill ghouls ] But I though I should let people know.
And- I know westerns pay great attention to Christmas as a family holiday, so I hope you had a happy day. Thank you to those who've sent me a Christmas gift.
i hope you have a happy New year as well. [ do expect mochi cakes from kaneki on the 1st January ]

sort... of. ]
Our relationship is a bit complicated.
I've left a few things over his place; would it be alright if I went by to pick them up? or for you to send them over.
I'd also like to keep his books if that's possible.
Text
[Yes...let him get a good look at the purportedly 'unstable cannibal.']
Text
no they aren't]That's a shame. he was kind and hard-working. I think he is the sort of person most people would like. [ spoken like a true parent. ]
When would it be alright for me to drop by?
Text
The fault was undoubtedly my own. I'm seldom very long away from my work.
[Or his 'work.']
In any case, I can make time for whenever is most convenient for you. Today, perhaps?
Text
Today would work, yes. I can drop by in the afternoon.
Text
The afternoon is fine. I'll be sure to be home.
Do you like coffee or tea, Mr. Kaneki? So I know what to prepare.
Text
And coffee would be the best for me, but I don't wish to impose, though.
Text
It's no trouble, merely my way of welcoming you into the home.
Text -> Action
Thank you, Mister Petrov.
[ and as agreed, during the afternoon, Kaneki will be dropping buy to pick whatever Mutsuki left. He is actually... sort of looking for something else, specifically if Mutsuki left his Quinque behind; Ken doesn't think so, but you can never be too careful right?
Still, he will be holding a small polite smile, not wanting to look too weird in front of someone he just met ]
Action
I'm glad you could come.
[Smiling benignly, Yuri steps aside so that Ken may enter.]
If you'd like, you can go on ahead to your friend's room. I can bring your coffee to you. How do you take it?
no subject
Thank you.
I will take it black. No cream or sugar. [and since he was told to do so, kaneki will head to Mutsuki's room. if given the chance to be alone, the first thing kaneki does is to look under the bed and after the closet, searching for a briefcase. At least a quinque isn't hard to keep hidden, and he doubts Mutsuki was so paranoid that he found a super secret place to hide it ]
no subject
I'm sorry if I kept you waiting. Here you go.
[From Yuri's mug there is the faint smell of honey, but otherwise, the drink seems somewhat mild...if hot, though that doesn't appear to bother the judge as he sips it.]
Was there something in particular you were hoping to find?
no subject
[ he expected that question too, so kaneki glances around ]
Ah- it might have disappeared along with him. Unless you have seen a suitcase of sorts..?
text
didnt get to know him v well but he seemed alright
u guys friends?
text
he was from my world. [ he doesn't know if he can call Mutsuki a friend. he wants to, but... it was a strange relationship ]
no subject
[Unless of course Ken doesn't truly like his drink and is just being polite? Though Yuri doesn't think that's the case.
Unhurriedly, he gazes around the room as though for potential hiding spots, but the obvious ones appear to already have been searched.]
I don't recall having seen a suitcase or any such thing around the house, and I don't see one now. Perhaps it returned with him to where he came from.
no subject
Hm- perhaps he did. [ well, if Yuri finds it it could be problematic in some way, but in any case, kaneki won't stress too much about it. He offers the man a smile after ] it's alright. I'll just pick up the books, then. [ good thing Kaneki has super strength, it'll allow him to carry most of the books.
As he takes them from the shelves, he will place them on the desk ]
Mister Petrov, you mentioned work. Is it alright to ask what do you do?
text
[Gotta stay positive about these things. It's what kept Fly going!]
in the meantime u can hang w/ your friends that are still here :J
text
And that's the plan, yes. it's not like we can go anywhere.
text
we got cool powers rite?
the gov could give better jobs tho
tooru had a really stupid job :/
text
You know what job Mutsuki-san had?
text
he was some tv guys coffee fetcher or somethin dumb liek that
text
Aha. yeah, that was a bit under his ability.
text
its messed up
tooru shoulda been a detacive
and had a butler
wat about u? wats ur job?
text
Yeah, he should. A butler though?
And my job is a waiter at the Lucky Cat Café.
text
its getting kinda risky tho because the boss is catchin on
yea a butler! cuz he shoudnt be servin ppls drinks, some1 shouldve been servin him! i think a lot of supers should be treated better
huh where is that? dont think ive ever been there
text
Hmm, I think butlers aren't necessary. Just a bit more of respect.
I'll send you the address. It's a café run by imPorts in Heropa. [ and he's gonna send the address to it ]
text
cmon who doesnt dream of having a butler like batman does!
um do u have super powers thats got somethin to do with cats? y did u get that job?
text
And I guess I just never saw the interest. But i work at a café, I'm usually the one who serves and I'm used to that.
The jobs they give us usually aren't related to our powers. They all feel pretty ironic, in many cases, but that's it. Unless your superpowers have something to do with fishes? Anyway, the café belongs to an imPort. I asked her to hire me, basically.
no subject
[Yuri sips his tea and observes as Kaneki demonstrates his strength, a feat that might raise eyebrows if the judge weren't already accustomed to dealing with supers everyday, in particular those with exceptional physical prowess...]
I'm employed presently as a haberdasher out of Nonah. It's quite different from my work at home, but utilizes the awareness of a talent I possess that received only limited use in the past.
[Meaning simply that while his job requires him to sell the accessories to sewing, he's still able to put to use his ability to sew. Perhaps that is the result of his good business sense? And being someone who possesses various finely tuned skills...]
And what do you do, Mr. Kaneki?
no subject
It's a good thing that job fits you. usually people have a hard time finding something they enjoy, though i've always been lucky in that front. [ he really feels that he has because all of his jobs have been pretty nice ]
Just "Kaneki" is fine. And I'm a waitress at the imPort Café, Lucky Cat Café. [ ken pats the books he just grabbed, smiling ] I used to sell books, and then I was a librarian for a while.
text
if ur happy there i guess thats ok
lol ur lucky my powers deal w/ fish whoever gave me my job must think they r soooooo funny
thats cool! better then workin for a not import they can be jerks
text
Probably they have really ironic people in their PR department.
And I can't complain about either; my former native bosses were very nice to me. But I think that's also because having an imPort helped their business.
no subject
[But the 'Mr.' will probably return before too long. Yuri isn't in the habit of being overly familiar with strangers. Especially killers.]
You're right, so few of us imPorts are handed occupations that suit us as well as the government thinks, and fewer still are handed positions they enjoy. But you...you were a librarian? That is a fine job.
The super strength you seem to possess must have been useful there every now and again, but how do you find ways to implement it at a cafe?
no subject
I like books [ liked? He still reads them, but kaneki has found such difficulty to enjoy them like before. or anything, let's be honest here, his life sucks balls ] so it was a pleasure having worked around them. [ but in any case, here he is inside Mucchan's room, grabbing all the books he can carry ]
[ but as for that last question ] When we get a shipment, for example. or it's necessary to move chairs and tables, it's handy. [ he smiles, a bit amused ] i prefer to believe they didn't hire me solely to carry things around - I'm sure I'm much better at making coffee.
text
whos a lion btw totally cool dude
ur def lucky then. maybe i should look for a dif job.. kno anywhere thats hiring?
text
Not know, but I'm sure there is something that might fit you. Why not try the Zoo or the Aquarium, since you can talk to fishes?
text
if we ever meet for real maybe you can meet him to
not bad ideas! i thought abot bein a lifeguard b4 too
ill have to think about it thanks for the tip!
text
And it's not a problem. Hope you find something better soon.
no subject
[So he says, but because he wouldn't mind seeing that strength in action a little more, to better understand its limits, or if there are any...]
Perhaps I should pay a visit to where you work? That is, if the coffee you make is as fine as you say.
no subject
The Lucky Cat Café, a coffee shop ran by imPorts over Heropa. I'd be glad to serve you. [ he offers the man a bright smile! What a nice person mister Yuri is ('= ]
no subject
I've heard of it.
[The judge, such a nice man, completely harmless, smiles politely in return as he sets down his coffee cup and moves to finally assist Kaneki with removing the books from the shelf. He may not have super strength, but he is much stronger than he looks and transporting small stacks proves easy enough.]
Do you work in the evenings? I'm afraid most days I'm rather busy with my own job and it would be more difficult to stop by then.
no subject
I work mornings until 2pm. Sometimes I stay a bit longer to help. [ but he also has college classes during the afternoon. he isn't doing a full schedule because kaneki wouldn't be able to, mentally, but at least he still goes daily ]
no subject
Then I will attempt to stop by when the cafe opens or near the end of your shift sometime.
[...]
As for these books, will you be taking them all with you? You wouldn't mind terribly if I were to borrow one, would you?
[As an excuse to meet again in the future, naturally.]
I've been lacking in reading material as of late, and something to pass the more quiet hours at my work would be greatly appreciated.
no subject
Well, I feel honored. if you wish to taste my coffee, I can try to make some here. [ no need to go to such lengths in order to have some
that's totally what he wants right. ]And not at all - please. Take as much as you'd like, of course.
[ kaneki feels a bit embarrassed he was just taking the books like that. Tooru's roomates could want some of them, of course. ]
These aren't originally mine, so I don't really have any complaints if you take some for yourself. It's fair, I believe.
