I've been in contact with one of the hostages. As I'm sure you're aware by now, the Russians intend to 'confiscate' the rest of us- whether by the same method they captured the first group or some other method is unknown. [And there's something tense and angry in Sabriel's voice, but she forces it back.]

However! The hostages are in communication with the Russian AI LACKEY- and only that, since their guards aren't talkative. I'm making this post. There's no guarantee that LACKEY will answer all questions, or answer honestly, but if they keep it talking, they might learn something.

So I'm making this post to compile information about what we've learned about it so far, and questions that the hostages can ask it.

Well, Okay, AI robot LACKEY....Is it possible we could send one of our robo people through the mental link in the network to talk with it or hack it or something? I mean, someone's gotta have a power like that...maybe. If they aren't blocking that too.

Hm...maybe we could, I dunno, disguise the signal? I mean, okay as far fetched as it sounds and it came from a sci fi book but maybe like one of our techy people could make Magicman identify as an AI instead of imPort or maybe magic or something.

I mean, it's at least an option.

Asking it what its purpose is and what its defined duties are - those are good starter questions. You will need to find out its limits. I would assume that Russia wants to keep it operating the way they wish it to operate, which means it will have things it can and cannot do.

Find out, too, the parameters that bind its answers. If it does, in fact, have any. [ He feels a little unsettled acting like this, like what is technically a fellow AI in this world is just another obstacle to be surmounted, but - well, would he feel that way if his operator had been kidnapped? His teammates from home? Those who endanger the ones he wants to protect are those he can easily push aside. ]

It said that it didn't want to kill the hostages becaus it would be without a function. And it won't answer questions that jeopardize Russia's plans.

Kaneki said it claimed to have other functions and powers, but wouldn't disclose them- and also that Russia had other plans in motion beyond the abduction.

So we know that it was likely commanded to protect the hostages from harm. I wonder if it fears the consequences for not having a function? What happens to it when it lacks a function? [ He wonders if it's learned fear yet. ]

We will assume 'information holding' and 'protection' for now. It will not or perhaps cannot answer information-sensitive questions.

Perhaps ask it for its own views on things. The Russians, humans, whatever can be thought of. It's important to collect as much data as possible about its capabilities.

Someone needs to find out if the AI is movement-restricted or not - if they can transfer from system to system, or if they're confined by a core install to one device and can only get input and output from whatever the Russians choose to connect them to.

[Kotetsu doesn't know much about robots. He's spent a good chunk of his time here being kind of terrified of the AIs around here, and only just beginning to warm up to them. Still:]

Maybe they could ask it what the Soviets are planning to do with the hostages. And I dunno if it'd answer, but they could try asking how it kidnapped 'em, too.

Apparently it's unwilling or unable to tell them what the Soviets are planning, and it seems to have... teleported them out of the US.
