it comes as no surprise to me that a conflict like this began with those kidnappings. I took part in helping those hostages reach home.


I have never fought in a real war. that doesn't mean I do not have the capability to fight or the ignorance to know that conflict will happen.


I have lived with your kind for some time. I have seen certain behaviors. aside from a few, I wouldn't care for most of you.


there will always be fighting. but if you can recognize that escalating this conflict will only lead to suffering then my opinion can be changed.


if not. then. your kind are a species I would not want to bother with.

While I agree that we shouldn't be trigger happy about the war, I fear that there may come a point where we'll have no choice but to escalate the conflict.

Especially if the Russians keep seeing us as just weapons and not people.

You're right on the suffering thing. I'm not interested in fighting somebody else's war for them, or helping them make it worse. What I care about is keeping the people who matter safe. If I have to, I'll retaliate, but that's all I'm interested in.

Doing that would take the mutual agreement of the vast majority of imPorts, and the power and will to stop the likes of Crane and Pan from causing trouble for the natives, and to potentially fight off the Russians on our own. We don't have that yet.

Well, RISE is working to make sure that people don't need to worry about the likes of Crane and Pan. The rest of it though... I'm honestly not sure how well we would have done without the Americans giving us information and pilots. Perhaps we should emulate that first group of imPorts more closely.

But even so, I have no interest in being forced to fight in an avoidable war.
