[It's somewhat late at night when this posting appears. An unfamiliar imPort appears, but despite the late hour he doesn't appear to be tired at all. His wild silver hair starting to stand on end. And yes, that is a shiny disco suit he's wearing.]
Our technology grows more and more compact. Amazing, isn't it---ah. I did turn this on. Good evening!
I'm Emmett Brown, pleased to meet you all, though I gather that circumstances have been especially grim lately? I'm sorry. Sometimes it seems the world's inevitably destined to go to hell.
[There's a lot he isn't saying, but everything he's read about this war is really, really weighing heavily on his mind.]
Back to business: I'm here to inquire about whether any of you would be interested in a mechanic's service? As I'm sure you can see, I work nights at the disco and while it's certainly loud work, I prefer a wrench in hand during the daytime. I can repair most basic home devices, but I specialize in automobile repair and hover conversions. I'll only charge for parts acquisition, of course---I'm not precisely cut out for combat, so it's the least assistance I can offer you.

Did you say hover conversions?

How are you even a real doctor?]Destined to go to Hell? No. I say unto you: Hell is already here.
[His tone is soft and polite. Enunciative. Lyrical.]
Sorry. I apologize for my black humor. [He clicks his tongue in his cheek.] Still, I ought warn you that the Devil walks amongst us. Lucifer himself. [He sniffs.] Did you know that?
Re: video
[He's resigned to it---this looks to be one of the worst possible futures thus far. He lifts a brow.]
Does he, now?
video
[He looks marginally displeased about it.]
I apologize for being the bearer of bad news.

That's... cheery.
Is your world or dimension just as dark as this one?
text
We had a war just like this, and the potential consequences weighted on our minds for many years. In this world it's stretched even further.

[Well, it was for Perry. Give him a break he's only five.]
In the very least I hope you find some enjoyment in this place. You were lucky to miss out on the mass kidnapping so hopefully you won't have to worry about that.
[Guess who's still extremely bitter about that.]

[Action]
It's so stylish, zura...
[He muses to himself as he peeks around the corner. Where can he get a suit like that?]
no subject
He turns his head, and it takes a moment before he sees anything. A small sliver around the corner of---what is that?]
I apologize, I don't mean to keep you awake? I'll take this to my room.

What I wanna know is why everything's supposed to be better when it hovers. Can't we just stick with having our wheels on the road? Y'know, all classic like?
no subject
True, it's trickier to avoid accidents in congested areas, but it's useful for allowing us to traverse rocky terrain that would trap standard wheels. Off-road driving virtually anywhere with very little effort.

As a matter of fact, I am looking for a skilled mechanic. You see, I have with me here something from my world... ah, hold on, let me find the link... [And eventually this post of hers will pop up.]
It was pointed out to me that should it be damaged, I have no way of fixing it. Is this within your interest?
no subject
I'll admit it's a little out of my usual range, but I'd be happy to learn the necessary skills. I have a knack for picking these things up.

But yes, the circumstances are complicated to say the least, and seem to only be getting worse of late. I'm sorry there isn't a better welcoming.

You know the other mechanics in town?

Uh. [Okay think. Don't make an ass of yourself Chloe.] Hey?
[No that was terrible.]
Probably gonna find a ton of people who want their stuff to hover.
[Slightly better. Good job.]
[ooc: Is...fourth walling okay I wasn't sure?]
I realize I don't much look the part of a mechanic at the moment. This was the least offensive of the uniforms!
[Not that anyone should trust Doc's fashion sense ever.]
But I'm looking forward to it. Every new model's a new challenge.
[ooc: Yes, it's totally fine! I'm getting a permissions post mentioning that up in the journal today.]

video;
It's nice to meet you, Emmett. I'm Isaac Clarke.
Hover? Really? Uh, I might be able to get you a job where I work. Originally, back home I mean, I was a Systems Engineer for the CEC. They were a deep space mining corporation. Here, I work on boats.
video;
Deep space mining...ah, now that's something I never quite got around to. I'd love to hear all about it.
The hover technology I work with at home rather inconveniently doesn't work over water, but that's the next logical step in its development. I'll put some work into it.
