one. ❝audio❞

Yet another stage lacking in beauty, having to import for what should be a simple production. But I suppose I must make do, not that I have much choice.

[The voice is clearly augmented, though it doesn't seem by much there's some kind of unusual flair to it. Some kind of mask perhaps. He pauses a moment and there's the sound of shuffling papers before he speaks up again.]

Proposal planning is certainly an interesting choice, though not exactly what I was expecting... And while it is quite the setup they have here, what is the purpose of this device? It cannot simply be for "keeping in touch". How is this device supposed to make this whole ordeal easier?

[Someone does not have smartphones back home.]

This isn't anything like the hextech devices I've seen before.

[ That's an odd-sounding voice. What's going on with it? ]

We also receive notifications about the news on it. It is good for keeping up with local or country-wide information as well.

That is in fact more or less what devices like these do, yes. [Well, any that she's ever been familiar with. These appear to do the same.] Though I have to ask, what is a hextech device?

[That sounds like some Tony Stark level stuff, really. And she's seen what Stark tech can do.]

That does sound interesting, though. All of your worlds, they have magic? The closest mine has is alien technology that can do some .. interesting things as well.

[ He's no stranger to strange-sounding voices, but something tells him this isn't just the function of a translator. ]

Technically, if it's just for communication, you don't really need the communicator at all.

[ He holds up his wrist, to flash the registered tattoo on his wrist. ]

Not sure. Probably has to do with the nanites they injected into us, but I couldn't really explain how it works.

Using it takes practice. [ He taps his fingers against his temple, and the next response comes not through his voice, but a text notification. ]

This is all mental.

[ Shepard scratches at his chin, reverting to speaking instead of trying to mentally project messages -- much easier to concentrate. ]

For one thing, it's in your blood, and there's no way to get it out -- not that anyone's figured out yet, anyway. Other than that, you barely notice them. They've also got something to do with bringing people back to life.
