I understand many of you come from worlds in which advanced technology is either nonexistent or hasn't yet reached a point in which artificial life can be created.

So, in acknowledgement of this fact,and the fact that it seems to be time to welcome new imPorts once again - my name is Magicman. I am an artificial intelligence. Ask me anything.

Nobody's been hassling you about being an AI lately have they? I know some people are freaked after the whole deal with LACKEY

That's mostly where I got the idea. [ He's also tired of having to answer the same questions many times. ]

No, no. Then again, I don't think people really realise I'm an AI until I am one, if you know what I mean.

That's the long and short of it, yes. I enjoy having a human body, and some of the things it can do, but it's not as if I go around with a sign hanging on my neck saying 'I'm actually an artificial intelligence'. [ He'd get asked a lot more silly questions that way! ]

But how would a normal kid start this conversation?]

Are there lots of artificial intelligences here? Does that mean you're a computer?

There's a few around, yes.

And it does mean I'm a computer, roughly. Considering the complexity of a sentient mind, it would be more of a supercomputer in capability than a regular one. [ He's not bragging - it is what it is. All the things that go into making up a brain are pretty complex. ]

What do you mean by roughly?

When you think of a 'computer', a certain image comes to mind, does it not? When I say 'roughly', I mean that the image of an AI and the image of a computer doesn't usually match up for most people.

But we can inhabit computers, too, so it's not completely inaccurate.

Y'know, with the amount of robots/AI types that I've seen around here, what do you think of making some kinda robot club? For solidarity or something?

A robot club...? I suppose that would be a good way to stay in touch.

And if others come in with the same problem a few of us have had, then it's easier to explain to them if we have an established foundation in place.

Excuse me. I wasn't programmed to be a gigantic asshole. Life experience and personality development made me this way.

Do you also ask if people were born to be gigantic assholes, or is this a question reserved for artificial life only? [ he enjoys his conversations with hazel, really! ]

Artificial intelligence refers to the fact that we are not created by what you would call 'normal' means, for humans. We are built by human hands, or at the very least the input of our creators is required at one or more points in the process.

I was able to leave that behind me thanks to the kindness of others, but I certainly don't forget the circumstances of my creation.

But I am thankful for the fact that it no longer happens.

That's a very broad question. Are you asking for my opinion on their personality? Their creation? Their actions?
