flight 002 ☄ [video]
[Kay is seated on the top step of the courthouse, looking particularly thoughtful - solemn compared to her ostentatious intro nearly a month ago. She just got out from her job as a juror-in-training at teen court, and she looks a bit exhausted.]
Well...you know what they say - justice never sleeps! [She laughs shortly, but lapses back into a more serious attitude.] Unfortunately, crime doesn't sleep, either. Unless that's how a supervillain plans on taking over the world - by somehow using sleep.
[She runs a hand through her bangs, stopping short of her particularly high ponytail and that ridiculously large key in her hair.]
Okay, after running into exploding trains, mechanical sharks and monsters who could've walked out of a horror movie, I've decided that I wanna learn how to fight. [Kay sets her jaw.] I wanna learn how to use a weapon - a gun, a knife, anything, even my own fists. I could ask my crow friends to fight for me, but...I don't want to depend on them all the time.
[Pause. Kay frowns; more importantly, she doesn't want to see a crow die because she sent it to fight for her. Plus, replicating sounds and voices she hears aren't going to cut it.]
I give a pretty mean dropkick, but...yeah. There are gonna be villains out there who won't go down with a single kick.
...
I promise I'll attend every lesson.

[Better to try and have this conversation now before somebody gets hurt.]

But I've held kitchen knives. [Real helpful.]

...Oh, I had a big pipe during that time there were monsters all over the place!

But here is the problem. You shouldn't carry any weapon that could kill people, unless you're prepared for the possibility of killing someone. Because with a knife, or a gun, that possibility is very, very real. You can't use those unless you're really prepared to use them; otherwise, you're more of a danger to yourself and everyone around you.

Instead, her voice is small and timid when she speaks up.]
But...I can't do that...don't some people just stick to, say, shooting someone in the leg?

[He softens the lecture voice slightly, because...well, it's no good yelling at her about this. But god help them all if everyone takes up the ideas that using a gun is like being in the movies. That's how people have stupid accidents. That's how they die.]
It's not like a movie, or a comic book. Don't go into something like that thinking it will be. You don't want to get involved in that kind of trouble.

Her face is serious but she can't help but pout a bit. She knows it's not like a movie or a comic book. She knows murder and bad people and crime and having a gun pointed to her head.]
I know this is real. [Her voice is low, but not annoyed or frustrated or rebellious.]
