Right. Okay then. I am not sure where to even begin here. I am not into this wifi tattoo/mental link to the network system they have here. It all seems a bit invasive and I'd rather stick to text for now. But I suppose I can scratch 'get a tattoo' off of my bucket list.

Anyway... kidnapped another universe! I wish I could say this I the first time something like this has happened to me. It sounds insane. Which leads me to my next question... does 'The City' ring a bell to anyone?

It's just. It's been a very long time and all this 'Hero' talk can't be a coincidence. Obviously things are different but... yeah. If anyone does recognize that name, I'd appreciate it.

Well, it does save me the trouble of job hunting later. They've made me a probationary surgeon at the hospital... it won't be boring.

What have they got you doing?

I'm a civil engineer -- and an import representative.

At least one of those is similar to what I was doing back in the City.

Well, they certainty know which jobs will suit us.

Are you going to try and cut back on some of the language?

You're kidding, right? My mouth isn't that bad.

Just a harmless suggestion. I don't know much about America but Florida has always seemed like that sort of family friendly state.

You'd be surprised. Florida's a mixed bag, no matter how you look at it.

You know, I don't think I ever asked how long you've been in politics.

Ah, it's a little complicated. What with the City, and everything.

Right, yeah. I forget we have to deal with surplus time in one place when it doesn't move in another universe or... yeah. It's hard to wrap your head around.

So -- did you expect more or less?

Mm. Less.

I've actually been in some sort of public office -- or something close to it -- since I was thirty.

Yeah, I don't really follow politics that much. I know a lot more than Sherlock does, but that's about it. The impression that I do get is that it's a cut throat profession. Guess that's why Eric Pickles doesn't have one. [ british humour at its finest. ]

Actually, I take it all back. I think you're ruthless enough to survive for a long time.

I know it's surprising, but you can do well without being ruthless, if you keep your head up and your nose clean.

And you're clean, are you?

[ he is having trouble remembering the specifics from the city, but there is this gut feeling that mitch isn't. ]

As clean as can be. Which is hard to do in my line of work, I'll admit.

Hmmm. Guess it depends on how good your cleaners are too, I 'spose.

If you have them, but I was never rich enough to afford them.

Do I come across as the type who does that? No, I do most of the cleaning myself.
