-o, this is it? I think. This thing that's supposed to let me talk to a lot of people all at once or something. They better not have been messing with me. Probably laugh at me talking to myself if this doesn't work.

[Yuu shifts, sitting back on his bed of his housing in Heropa, once he thinks he's got this thing to work. The video shows a boy with unruly dark hair and wide green eyes. He has some minor scrapes but if anything it was more sheer exhaustion than a major injury that caused him to pass out back home before waking here in this place.]

I'm still not quite sure I get the details on what's going on, but the basics, maybe. I'm Yuu. Yuichiro Hyakuya, in Shinoa's squad in the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. Which -- oi, Shinoa, Kimizuki, Narumi....any of you, if you're here, let me know. Mika too.

[He figures that should be enough. If anyone from home is around, that they would respond. He hasn't yet quite considered what to do if there were any other vampires around aside from Mika, but. He'd cross that bridge when he gets to it. Or something, however that saying goes. He sighs, running a hand through his mop of hair.]

At least the 'powers' they listed in this file, I already figured those back home. What about everyone else? Does everyone this 'Porter' thing pulls in have some back home too or.....? And school. Do I seriously have to go? I thought I got Guren to get me outta class once I passed the test for my Cursed Gear already. At least my job should be fun! I've never driven an ice cream truck before, but it can't be that much different from the military ones, right?

[He looks. So, so excited at this prospect of driving! Face all but lighting up as if he were a toddler being offered candy. But. No. No, Yuu on the road even without a single other car around results in a crash. This is a terrible idea. Not to mention he'd probably get fired for handing out the ice cream free or cheaper because how does US money work. Or...money in general. He's never had to handle it before.]

That's weird. You do know that that's weird, right? I mean, the age thing is fucked up enough on its own. But anybody calling themselves the Cursed Devil Army can't possibly be good news. [look, HE never got a choice about his fucked up version of the draft. but real people, YOUNG people, should get that.]

Guren said right from the start when he found me and took me in that he was using me. But....that's okay. Cause I'm using him and the others too, I guess. Not much choice when it's either the military or going back to the vampires. At least with the military I can....I can get revenge. Have access to their resources.

[Even if at this point Yuu still might not be entirely aware just how corrupt, how messed up the military is and it's politics.]

I can't speak for everyone, but I certainly don't have these powers back home. They're pretty Porter-exclusive.

Now, pardon me, but did you say Imperial Demon Army?

So there are some people here who are just learning theirs. That must be tough. But kind of cool, depending on the powers, right? What'd you get?

[Yuu this isn't comparing some stupid trading cards or something.....]

But yeah. That's what our army is called. Cause we use Demons -- the Cursed Gear weapons, against the vampires back home. Not that I've seen any around here yet....

I'd definitely recommend continuing your education, but you have opportunities to learn like never before! There are tutors in many subjects if you ask around.

But classes mean homework and tests.

[And Yuu, well. Decidedly has a lack of proper education thanks to being partly raised by the vampires who only cared so much about the children's needs in order to keep them alive and obedient in staying, to use them for their blood.

It's no wonder he's not the most enthusiastic about it, other than definitely being more the type to learn by doing rather than hearing or seeing. Or writing stuff out.]

That's true, and they can be a burden when used in excess, but repetition and deeper consideration of what you learn is important.

And as you potentially have other responsibilities, they'll have to understand if your homework is late once in a while.

What, so we get to use the whole 'hero' thing as an excuse and they'd buy it? 'Sorry, I didn't get my homework done because I was busy saving some little girl's cat from a tree?'

[Yuu is. Really not so sure on that. But this may just be due to his lack of formal education as a whole making him insecure about it. Plus, in theory he only has another year or two left anyway.]

I certainly would if I were teaching.

In the meantime, if you have any trouble in the sciences I may be able to help.

You teach? I guess if they do expect me to go to class, I'll probably need all the help I can get.

[As much as it irks him to admit that. Even he's well aware his education has been lacking and much more focused on the military side of things since Guren took him in.]

I don't have a teaching degree, but I have a physics degree. I understand most science on a basic level, or at least I certainly hope so.

Have you done laboratory work before?

Physics....all that sort of thing seems like forever ago back home. Or -- I guess there's still some scientists around the research back home, but mostly that's towards military stuff now.

Laboratory work? Nope.

That seems to be the trend here as well. For understandable reasons, of course, but we can never lose sight of discovery.

But I have enough garage space for a few simple demonstrations. I find that the concepts are much easier to grasp when you see them in motion.

Even in another world or whatever, doesn't seem like all that much has changed in some ways.

A new one? What'd you get then? Both of mine are from home as far as I can figure.
