Tomorrow, as I understand it in this world, is a holiday called Memorial Day. It exists to remember those who gave their lives during service in this nation's armed forces.

Where I come from, the world seems to be perpetually at war. The three great powers-- the Chinese Federation, the European Union, and my home country, the Holy Britannian Empire-- are always struggling for some corner of the globe or not. I do not know how many people have died, but I can only imagine it is many.

Some of my family members have died as a result of this, like my brother Clovis. Some days I miss him very much.

Who would you like to remember, on a day like tomorrow? Please, tell me about their lives, if you wouldn't mind.

Yes. I think they're worth remembering too, of course. I'd like to remember those who died as a result of conflict, not just those who fought in it.

They're the same thing, sometimes. Sometimes they can't get out of the way fast enough and have to fight anyway.

I think this country would be less likely to go to war for pride if their own citizens were in the way.

I think that truly, at our cores, people don't wish to cause other humans pain for no reason. But it's very easy to make a judgment and authorize actions from far away when you don't have to face the reality of those consequences.

Unfortunately she died when I was young. I only had what remained of her, through stories and what she left behind.

well - they gave their lives to protect the people. They were hardworking and loyal, the kind of people you wish to have by your side. Everyone is different, but in the end, they all wished for a better world.

Oh dear, you too? My parents fell in battle, although I was very young at the time. I have no memories of them.

Many of the Knights of Rausten fell more recently, in the war against Grado and the Demon King. They gave their lives for a noble cause, as did King Fado of Renais, Queen Ismaire of Jehanna, and... and Prince Lyon of Grado.

[Words and places that mean little to her, of course, but she understands the significance behind them all the same.] I'm so sorry to hear that. These people must've meant a lot to you. It would be nice to have a world where people wouldn't have to give their lives for something like that.

I never got to know them, I'm afraid, but I do wish I'd had the chance. They meant a lot to some very dear friends of mine.

But it is thanks in part to sacrifices like theirs that my world has become just such a world. We have peace now, and I know their spirits are very pleased to see it.
