[Allura is looking a lot taller, a lot more purple, and a lot more armoured than she usually does, but she's kind of in a bit of a overwhelmed mood to focus her attention on turning back into her usual self at the moment. It looks like she's currently in the car everyone here should be familiar with, on her way to her assigned housing.]

This is Princess Allura of the planet Altea. I...[Her determined look falters slightly, but she shakes her head, continuing] am not quite certain if that actually means anything in this galaxy, but if it does, please contact me as soon as you can.

[She's kind of keeping this air of authority for her own sake, but her expression does shift into something softer.

It's also now when she realizes she's been keeping up her disguise, so before continuing, she visibly shifts into her more usual self, seeming to shrink a little in her armour which now looks too big for her, and her skin changes from purple to her usual shade of brown.]

While I will certainly endeavor to help this planet in whatever way I am able to help, especially considering this is...apparently Earth, there are far greater dangers out there in the galaxy that I must help stop before it reaches this planet.

Zarkon needs to be stopped, and I cannot do that while being landlocked on a distant planet.

I'm sorry, princess, but while you are here you could say that the time is stopped in your home-universe.

Plus, only the Porter decides who arrives and leaves, and when. And it's not very keen on listening to us.

I got no idea about the Altea or Zarkon biz, but sorry to say, the jerks who brought us here don't really care about what's going on at home, dude. (she's a bit flippant in her attitude and tone. "princess" or whatever doesn't mean much here, anyway.)

Soooo, you from out of town? And by that, I mean not from Earth. Do you guys do slang and idioms?

Allura sighs, closing her eyes for a moment.]

But knowing that I cannot return is worrisome. Has no one tried fixing the Porter?

I had a feeling those names would mean little on this planet. Earth always seemed so distant on the star maps, so it shouldn't be surprising that there is little awareness of what is going on elsewhere.

[AND SHE raises her eyebrow a bit at that question. isn't it obvious that she's not from here??]

No, I am not from Earth. And from my own experience there are some differences between Altean and human...ways of speaking.

The power responsible for our being here cares little for what we must do, and even did it, this would not be the way to make contact.

Allura! You're here! I-- Okay, so I thought we were definitely split up, and I just went back to Earth, right? But then all the military stuff happened, and this place is, like, in the past, and, well-- Okay. It's not even just in the past, it's a whole different universe, and I really can't think on that too hard or I'm going to start crying.

[ Again. Can she tell he's been crying a little bit? Can she tell he's been dipping in and out of half-hysterics all day? Because it's probably obvious. Speaking of... He swallows thickly and then raises something else (whatever the MoM equivalent of a Hostess Ding Dong is) to his mouth to take a big bite. He's trying to be polite and talk around it, too, but he's still talking with his mouth full, muffled behind his hand. ]

Many of us have left and then returned, so we have lived it. I understand it's strange, but it's how it works, princess.

And sadly, it's not about "fixing" it. The Porter has been taken over by an AI, who not only decides who to bring and who to return, but it has always been silent.

Well, this is the only avenue of contact I have as of now.

It will accomplish little... at least in that regard.

It can have other uses though.

[tbh she can appreciate people being blunt, especially considering the circumstances. but she still frowns, sighing.]

What other uses does this device have? Beyond a means of contacting a network of fellow people trapped here.

[at the mention of the Porter having been taken over by a rogue AI, Allura looks...contemplative.

her voice goes soft for a moment.]

So it's a corrupt AI that brought everyone here...[and then her voice returns to its normal tone.] There isn't a way to override it? Surely there's a core.

So you've spoken with Keith and Hunk? How long have they been here?

(it's called they don't all have sticks up their asses, NO OFFENSE, PRINCESS.) Yeahhhh, that's just how we are. Humans can be surprisingly oblivious to a lot of things. But we're pretty chill, for the most part. Kinda.

(she taps her chin. obviously, she's never made any pitstops to earth, either.) Probably means you never dropped by, huh. Oh, but don't worry about the speech thing. Teenagers are way more chill and casual with talking. Your little markings, though. (she taps her cheeks, right below her eyes.) Those're sweet.

I'm sorry it's just...difficult for me to wrap my head around all this. Knowing that they've been here for nearly a month despite only seeing them a handful of hours ago back where I had been.

[this is like waking up from cryogenic sleep all over again. at least it isn't a 10,000 year jump.]

It's quite a startling change, yes. But there are worse gaps than that. My parents are both here ... but to them, I'd just been born.
