--ike this, Mika. See? [There's suddenly a shot of two teenagers, the darker haired one with green eyes seeming to be the one holding the phone and aiming the camera at them. Supposedly for practice, not actually realizing it's recording quite yet, instead he looks from the camera to the other next to him, wanting to ensure Mika is following along.]

I know how a phone works, Yuu-chan. [The blond is frowning over at his friend, not giving the device any of his attention.] It's just that I have no reason to use it except to talk to you.

[That's just how he likes it. Not being forced to talk to anyone he doesn't want to, not having to show his face when necessary. Given the opportunity, Mika would never reveal himself over the network.]

I just wanted to be sure. I mean, these ones you can talk to everyone at once! A lot of technology seems more advanced than back home. [Which is probably not too surprising, given the situation with the virus and all. Obviously that diverted things from such progress, more focused on finding better means to fight against the vampires.] Besides, I'm sure you'll make other friends you'll want to talk to besides me. Once you get to know everyone more. You've only been here a few days still, give them time.

[Mika looks away then, trying not to get huffy. Away from Yuu and the device both. There are so many things he doesn't say because he knows the other teen won't be happy with any of them. He doesn't need friends and he doesn't want to get to know anyone. All he needs was sitting right next to him.] I suppose it is a good way to collect information from other people without actually having to go near them. With all its fancy features, I don't even have to say a word or show my face. That's alright I guess.

Exactly! We couldn't really make use of this sort of thing back home with everything, but it's really handy! We can still talk when I'm out at work or in class -- or, well, not in class but with breaks at least. [He gives a nod, smiling before considering a moment.] You don't have to. Show your face. You can text people instead, or just talk like a normal phone. If you're worried about it. [Worried about scaring some of them or the questions he might be asked, with Mika's fangs and red eyes.]

Your side might not have been able to but there were still ways of talking to other people long distance. Krul did it with other progenitors that were overseas. [With that, Mika raises a hand to poke Yuu in the forehead gently. The frown is still present but there's something lighter and less serious about him than when they started this conversation.] I'm not worried, I just don't like talking to people in general. [Something that's changed so drastically over the last four years.]

M-Mika... [Ack. But he can't say he isn't used to it. A poke is way less painful than dealing with Guren's kicks, anyway. There is something of a pout at his lips, but it's quick to fade more, though not entirely.] What if other people want to talk to you though? You should give them a chance. [Yeah. While it is understandable, considering all Mika went through since, it's rather telling how they've switched roles in some ways since that time together prior.]

[A sigh escapes the blond because this is just something that Yuu isn't going to give up on. The other boy is stubborn like that. Yet Mika isn't so easily changed.] Why would anyone want to talk to me? I'm not anybody important - especially not to a bunch of strangers. [It was different with Yuu's friends, they were important to Yuu so of course he had to give them a chance. And maybe they weren't too terrible for humans. But this world is filled with people who aren't Yuu's friends and there's no reason he should give them half the chance he's given others.]

They don't have to be strangers. Come on, you can even practice with me before I turn it on properly! [Of course Yuu is stubborn. But that's only in part because of his desire to see Mika happy. He is also well aware of the Porter here and how easily it could end up separating them. If Mika makes some bonds and connections, Yuu would feel the better for it, if it came down to himself being pulled back home.]

For them to not be strangers, that would require-- [Whatever Mika was going to say is cut short when his eyes flicker to the communicator in Yuu's hand. To the red light that was glaring back at them. With movements too quick for any normal human gaze to keep up with, his hand is covering the screen. His voice drops down to a hissing whisper.] Yuu-chan! It's already recording! How do you erase it?

E-eh? It -- I don't know. I've never had to. I didn't realize I actually pressed it when I just meant to show you. Just turn it off and we'll figure it. [Maybe. Or not. At least everyone is spared Yuu's flailing a bit, as Mika's hand covers the camera and screen.]

Tch. [Is the only verbal response that comes from Mika, he's already said too much. So he shuts it down before he'll continue his conversation with Yuu.]

[The most helpful. Clearly. But then, Riku's generally about as social if not perhaps a little more so in comparison to Yuu's best friend. He turns to Mika, pointing.]

[Mika is not interested in being introduced to this guy Yuu knows. His eyes do narrow at Riku as if examing him.]

Ah. True. What do you think, Mika? [Turning to ask the vampire next to him before turning his attention back at Riku's last question.]

Yup! This is Mika. I met him back when I was eight. We got separated for a bit, so it's good to see him again. Say hi, Mika!

[She's honestly just been watching through this whole time with an increasingly pleased expression on her face. What a beautiful relationship!]

You must have been very close before. I'm so glad the two of you have found each other again in this new place! [She knows true friendship when she sees it projected over a tiny screen! She's cheering for you guys.]

Hm? Oh. Well, yeah. We knew each other for years back home. It's just that Mika showed up here now so I was trying to teach him and make sure he knew how to use these.

[Of course, Mika is being stubborn, but that's to be expected considering....everything back home and his general experience and view on humans and their experiments and the like there.]

It's not that easy, is it? I know the world I came from didn't have anything like these...

[If they knew each other for years...] It doesn't seem like your friend really wants to talk to anyone else here. Are you the only two here from your world?

Well, some of the stuff is still familiar, just more advanced. We had cars and that, but not flying ones like these, for example.

[And well. Technology as a whole was screwed and definitely affected by the virus and all, obviously.]

But yeah. So far it's just the two of us from home, as far as I know. I know I can't force Mika, but I'd like him to make some friends. [If only because there is no guarantee Yuu himself will be able to stick around the whole time Mika's here.]

Are there any other differences? Just about everything is new for me, to be honest, but some people seem to find this place more familiar with others. It's very strange.

[She can somewhat sympathize with that particular desire...] I think you're already doing all you can for now. Your friend probably needs more time to get used to things changing so quickly, right? And it seems like the two of you were apart for a while, before meeting up here...

You get used to it? But you're right. I know Mika will need time to get used to it all. And we were apart for a while back home. About four years, until more recently.

Don't worry, Yuu. I'm thinking of always looking after him. No matter how standoffish he is, I'll be sure to keep him company whenever you're busy with school or work. [Then why did it almost sound a threat?]

Nike! [Yuu grins, about to introduce the two, when she speaks herself.] ...Eh? Pretty? [Well, Mika isn't unattractive. Not the important thing here, because she gets a nod in answer.]

Yup, this is Mika! But if you have the time that'd be great, at least initially while he's still getting used to it all here.

[Evidently the implication of a threat there goes over Yuu's head. Of course it does.]

[Mika actually groans lightly and debates ducking out of the picture when he see's Nike's face on the communicator.] It's you again.

[So displeased with this conversation. This is exactly why he didn't want to show his face on the network.

He focuses all of his attention on Yuu, somewhat hopeful that if he ignores her that she'll leave him alone.]

Don't encourage her, Yuu-chan. I'm fine on my own when you're busy.

[And...judging from Mika's groan, it probably could have gone smoother. Still, he knows Nike can be persistent. And rather willful. So perhaps this isn't so surprising, if Yuu himself wasn't there to try help things.]

You wouldn't get lonely? She's been here almost as long as me, if you needed someone to show you around though.

[She called him a prince. He ran away from her. They ran into each other again. It was all very annoying and frustrasting.]

Of course not. It's not as if I haven't been by myself before. Besides, you'll be home everyday.

[That is the most pleasant company than Mika's had in the last four years. He didn't exactly want to hang around with Lacus or Rene but was forced to and that was an unpleasant experience.]

That's right. We've already met. It should make it easier to look after him. I'll always make time. No matter how much he rejects it. [And she definitely wants to teach him that as she cracks her knuckles.]

You -- really? [Well, Mika had arrived in uniform. One she would have otherwise recognized as the one vampires of their world used, if she actually....stopped and recalled Yuu's own time as one. But more than that, at least she seems glad and willing to help if Mika needs it.]

Manners? They weren't exactly a priority back home with everything. I figured you'd have known that from being around me so much.
