Hey, uh. Sorta a specific question, but has anyone ever... lost track of a day and shown up at the Porter? With somethin' changed? Is that just - somethin' that happens on top of all the other weird shit this place does to a person?

At this point I'm willin' to believe in pretty much anything. Aliens oddly seem like one of the more normal options. But yeah, new power. Healing, looks like. Hope it's useful, just also hope it's not needed.

[both brows lift at the denial.]

If the people from the Nexus I've run into here are any indication, it'll be needed more than you think. I think they get into trouble every month or so.

Quite. It was an unfortunate misunderstanding, but nothing I'd qualify as an indication that you'd lost your mind. If anyone that resembled my family I'd do the same. ( and then, in a small smile. ) It hadn't been the oddest thing to happen to me that day, either. Or the maddest.

[shifting]

Oh yeah? [he smiles.] Well, with a hook like that, you've gotta tell me what the maddest was.

My marriage. ( she says, simply. ) I can tell you more, if you like, but you will have to Deal for it.

( the capital letter is evident in her tone -- that's just how she works, being a jacksonian. )

[shifting]

[he hears the stress on the word, which only makes him curious.]

And what's that mean, exactly?

It means a trade. Something of equal value for something else. Information, goods, services. You're asking for information about something that's valuable -- you have to give something of equal value back. ( she grins, a bright flash ) Cheating within the bounds is customary. Breaking it is unforgivable.

[shifting]

Oh, okay. [he cocks his head - she's actually making this sound more serious than her grin would suggest, but he's in for it.]

So do you request the trade, or do I have to come up with that part?
