Do you believe in God? Gods? Do they exist where you're from? What about angels or demons or anything like that?

Where I'm from the existence of gods is hard to deny. People are pretty devote and religious. Church is an intrinsic part of our culture. It takes someone pretty hardheaded or self-centered to deny the existence of higher powers, but here there's not much emphasis on religion. Guess I'm just kinda curious now. Is it more like my home in your worlds, or more like this one?

[Joaquin may be slightly drunk, or perhaps he's just tired.]

I thought Catholics believed in only God and Jesus?

Not where I'm from. Denying what's obvious would be down-right foolish. There's definitely more than God and Jesus, but I believe they're still there, too. The Saints and the Holy Mother hold sway, as well.

But I believe there are other gods, definitely. I've come face to face with a devil before, too.

I know he was a presence here, but no, I didn't meet that particular guy back home just... someone pretty close to it. Definitely looked more like what you'd expect a devil to seem like.

How did you meet someone like that?

[medalsome]

I was just a kid at the time. Stupid and trusting. An old man approached me and gave me a magic medal. I don't have it here, but it basically kept me from getting hurt or dying.

I saw him again not long before I was brought here. It had been a decade. He looked different than what I remembered, but I knew it was him the moment I saw his face and he spoke.

What did he want?

For the medal? A loaf of bread. But sometimes I think maybe he took something more than that.

That sounds ominous.

Yeah, I'm trying not to read too much into it, but I can't really help it. I mean, a loaf of bread? Seriously? That can't be all he actually took but I

I was ten at the time. I don't remember if he said something in particular that I should have analyzed for double meanings.

I think a devil would have taken much more. He must have.

I wish I remembered more about that time.

Yeah, maybe. But I kind of hope not.

Are you afraid of him?

Yeah, kinda. I think it would be weirder if I wasn't at all spooked by the guy.

Maybe you should face your fears.

I'd like to think I would, given the chance. I can't exactly force the guy to come to me, here especially.

Maybe after the dust settles back home I'll see what I can do.
