[text; wee hours of the morning]
Do you believe in God? Gods? Do they exist where you're from? What about angels or demons or anything like that?
Where I'm from the existence of gods is hard to deny. People are pretty devote and religious. Church is an intrinsic part of our culture. It takes someone pretty hardheaded or self-centered to deny the existence of higher powers, but here there's not much emphasis on religion. Guess I'm just kinda curious now. Is it more like my home in your worlds, or more like this one?
[Joaquin may be slightly drunk, or perhaps he's just tired.]

You say that but you're responding. What's wrong with staying awake late now and then?
Huh. So you don't think those monsters you fought could have been maybe demons?

Man, a kid your age fighting something like that, though... Seems like quite a burden to bear.

just the spirits of the living and the dead!

It's important back home to remember the people you cared about that have passed on. We even have a specific day to contemplate the dead and we leave offerings around their graves so they can find comfort when they return to visit us.

People where I'm from... it doesn't matter how tough or weak you are, you know that spirits exist. Souls exist. And gods sometimes show their faces in the most dire of times.

Of course. We believe in many Gods, but there is only one Supreme God.
[replies continue to be in text]
I'm... not actually sure if there's some sort of hierarchy with our deities back home. That would be interesting to find out but I'm not sure how someone might figure it out. How does that work for you back in your world?

Regardless, you must recall that faith is one's strong belief in a doctrine based entirely on spiritual convition.
Superstition, in other words.
So no. I do not believe in God. Should I believe in a higher power, I might as well believe in leprechauns.
[He was raised by a matriarch who's zealousy would put anyone to shame, okay. The Richard Dawkins is real with this one.]
Re: text
I'm not sure if I got all that but I think I might have the gist of it.
I'm guessing that means your world's gods don't ever show their faces then. It goes beyond superstition where I'm from. I've seen them. I can't say it's all based solely on faith anymore. But it's interesting to know there might be worlds out there without gods, or clear proof of one.

I'm pretty glad to hear gods aren't just a part of my world. It's strange because this one seems to have little in the way of gods unless you count the ones brought here by the porter.

gods exist in my world as physical entities
sometimes you can call on them to help you
sometimes they just watch
the world itself is also alive and sentient
things are a lot different here.

Your description of the world is definitely interesting. It reminds me a bit of my own but I'm not sure if I could say the world is alive. How do you know?

Well, I've met only one "god". His name was Hades, he was the lord of the underworld. He's a huge jerk but me and my friends gave him a good beating a few times. [ Sora, the boy who smacks gods in the face with a giant key. ]
But, I dunno about that other stuff. I think there are a few gods in a world a visited once but I'm not sure about other worlds.
no subject
Beating up a God doesn't sound like a good idea but I mean... I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. Wonder what kind of medal I'd get if that had been me ha!
So you've had experience visiting worlds? This isn't your first time?

This world has a lot of similarities to mine, but I looked and nobody's heard of the god Meshta before. The temple exist here. Not just that, but the country it was in don't either.
Does Meshta only exist in my universe? Or is He here but unknown? That's what gets to me.
no subject
I'm sorry to hear they don't seem to exist here, or at least don't seem to have a known presence. Sounds like they were pretty important to you. But even if Meshta doesn't exist here, I don't see why you can't offer prayers or whatever it is you did for them like you did back home. Maybe he'd appreciate someone thinking about him from a world over?

Church isn't always a thing in my world. Some people are super into it and others aren't.
Joaquin's gonna continue replying with text just to keep noise levels down in the house
Most people from my world are very religious, or at least the majority of people I've met. You don't have to be but it's just kind of expected. I'd say that a great deal of my life I didn't think too much about church as something beyond just a weekly obligation but
Lately I've been wishing I'd been a little more active in seeking it out. The church I go to here isn't quite like what I remember from home.
Jo's sticking with video because she's lazy

In my country, Shinto is the most common religion, but I don't follow any religion, myself.

I've never heard of Shinto before. Is there a reason you don't follow it? People in my country tend to be Catholic, but not all the gods of my country are related to the Catholic church.

It depends only on you how serious you are going to treat it.
no subject
Would you say that you consider yourself to be religious? Or do you observe traditions just for traditions' sake? I think I mostly did the latter for a great deal of my life, though I never thought to make a distinction like that back home.
