I learned something new at school today. It's called MASH--apparently everybody in De Chima Middle Schools plays it when they're bored, it's not a thing that I ever encountered back home. The basic gist of it is that it's a pen and paper game where you put in options and the game tells you what your future's going to be!

So, who wants to play? I'll write up the list and find the answers if you just provide me with these things: four people you'd like to marry, four types of cars, four jobs, four different numbers of children you might have, four places you would live, and four different salaries you'd like to have.

[ a pause, before Mint butts in with ] Oh! And make sure some of these options are a bit silly. It's no fun if everything's serious. For instance, I ended up married to the beautiful and wonderful Zakuro-oneesama...but we have fifteen children.

[ Something that Mint looks a little put out about. She adores Zakuro, but fifteen kids? Goddamn, game. ]

Anyway, join in! It'll be fun. [ said with a pointed look at the screen, fuck you Wendy Courderoy, Mint knows what fun is. ]

[IT'S BORING AND 2REAL but. Her boyfriend's pretty chill to live with, and at least the answer wasn't, like, awkward.]

Kurain is the village where I live! It's a village of mediums studying under the Kurain technique passed down from Ami Fey!

Oh! So are you a medium in real life?

[ cause I mean village of mediums, kind of makes sense ]

That's right!

At least, back home I was. My powers are a little different here.

I've never actually met a medium before. [ and, because she's super nosy, Mint continues. ] Do you really talk to spirits?

Not exactly! It's more like, other people can talk to spirits through me.

[Maya, being a Professional Nose, doesn't mind Mint's nosiness-- especially because it seems to suggest that, well. At least Mint believes she's a medium.]

[ She's a magical girl who lives with a robot and a pegasus and is best friends with a youkai. Mint'll believe anything at this point, tbh. ]

But you need to talk to the spirits in order for them to speak through you, right?

Sort of? It's not really speaking, though. It's more like my soul getting permission from their soul to wake up and stuff.

And then mine goes to sleep in their place.

That's so interesting, [ Mint can't help but remark, with a little frown. ]

It's a bit of a pity you can't talk with the souls, though. I imagine the conversation would be wonderful.

Maybe... but helping other people get to see people they miss is worth it, I think.
