I have two matters that are of some importance that I must speak to, the first of which is that I find myself in hopes that at the season those of us to remain should take stock and find great joy with each other. And so I will most gladly host a party in December, at the Farm, and if you should be so inclined as to come I would gladly and gratefully hear any dates that are not available.

Now that the most trifling of matters have been dealt with:

I think it is an interesting place that would ask the people to select who will lead them. And I have been fortunate and well-placed enough as to be selected among those. I would ask you to not consider your rights so petty to not speak to them.

And so any who have need of me, and my responsibilities, should know my door to be open and my ear for their use.

Hello, Ambassador. I'm Ken Kaneki. As you've offered your aid, I would like to request it.

There is something I need and I believe you can help me with.

Before we start, I've brought this matter to Lord Baelish as well and he has agreed to help me with this... endeavor. [ sure let's call it that ] As I wish to eventually bring this to the government and change their point of view, it's important for me to have the support of those who represent imPorts, you understand.

Who, sir, is your ambassador then?

I'm currently residing in Nonah. [ so they will know soon ]

But this isn't a city matter. This is about non-human imPort nature, how its influenced, and how many other non-human imPorts may be under the same circumstances as I am. As such, I think all ambassadors should weight on this when the matter is brought to the government.

[ well he introduced the whole "I'm not human" part, so he can probably just go from there ] That said, I'm not human and this turns out to be rather complicated.

My kind is called "ghoul"; not the undead supernatural creature most are familiar, but a humanoid creature very similar to humans. [ kaneki does look human. He used to be one, too, but that's a story for another time ] One of the biggest and most difficult and worrisome difference is that ghouls have a very restrictive diet; there is only one thing a ghoul can consume, and that's humans.

[ not gonna beat around the bush, thought he speaks softly, trying not to freak her out. However that's... probably still going to happen. ]

[She considers this a moment, and yes, internally she might be freaking out, but externally she's still very calm.]

And what do you mean to do, then?

[ and just to make things clear because oh boy, doesn't he know people twist things around when they are freaking out, Kaneki will repeat it: ] I will stress that this is a biological need, the very same way you need food or you'll starve, so will I. But it happens that my diet, unlike yours, does not allow a wide range of choice.

And the government knows this; they have known since I arrived, two years ago. And you see, despite my dietary needs, I do not murder for food, neither I wished to be at odds with the law. There are many ways to acquire what I need, but they are all illegal, you see. [ grave robbing, going to morgues and mortuary houses, or... just let someone murder people and take the bodies. Also murder, but like he said, Kaneki isn't into that. ]

Thus the government said that if I were registered, they'd provide me with bodies. Specifically ones that were donated to science, and as I'm an imPort, I fall under the scientific umbrella. In other words, if I did not want to starve or be persecuted for illegalities I would have to commit in order not to starve, I had to register. [ which makes the ~choice of registration~ not really a choice. ]

And you do not wish to be registered for that sole reason.

I wish to have the choice they claim imPorts have regarding registration. Because when the choice is "register or starve" or "register or get arrested", it doesn't truly feel much like a choice, does it? [ not that anyone could ever prove Kaneki is doing anything illegal because he is good at what he does, but hey- nobody knows that. ] I wish to have access the bodies without having to register. I wish to eat without having to be under government hand.

[ and he will just add more gasoline to the fire ] Because if you think about it, they can easily persuade me to do anything they want in the end; all they have to do is to say I'm not allowed to eat unless I obey their orders. Now, I like to believe this government would not do such a thing, but when they put me on a leash like that, one wonders why.

And so you would like us to advocate for you.

Yes. I can't go directly to the government, they won't listen to me. And that's why we have ambassadors.

You have spoken, you said, to Lord Baelish on this matter.

Yes, I have. And I plan on contacting the newest ambassador elected as well.

Then I will speak on your behalf. As I do not think you to be lying on this matter.

My files have been leaked twice already; my nature and status have been known by many, too. [ what would be the point of lying? ] Thank you, lady Pevensie.

Though I speak of myself, I mean this for every imPort in a similar situation, too. Many imPorts require something in order to survive, depending on their nature, and the government uses this requirement as a way to keep them registered. I want to change this, regardless of the species the imPort is. [ it's not just about Kaneki specifically, he doesn't want a letter from the government saying "you can eat", he wants the government to change their position about ALL imPorts in a situation like this ]

Yes, of course. We cannot judge by what is required of us in our own worlds. Your case is most extreme, I should imagine, but any other case may be similar in structure if not in nature.

[ he nods ]

I'm glad you understand. I will bring this matter to our newest ambassador as well, and hopefully to Mr. Hundred who is, too, involved in imPort politics. I hope with all of your help, we can make things fair for every imPort.

There's a whole week leading up to the Solstice, surely that's plenty of room for anything we want to plan.

Does this world prefer just missing the important dates by a few days?

Do you not think that it is on the important date as it is?

The Solstice is on the twenty-first, I checked. What other date is more important than the triumphant sun?

But still, except for the Swear In, I should think if yours is the first planned, you may have your pick of nights.

Then I will choose a night that I find agreeable. And it will not be Christmas.

I usually found that the best parties to serve at were some two or three days before the holiday. Enough into the season that everyone felt joyful, but not so close that everyone was tired.

I'm not sure that nightly parties are the norm here, however.

And more the shame for it.

I don't know, I've known some people required to go every night who simply hated the things.

Oh, I have too. But I quite love them.

I've no objection to one made of mostly friends, but my knightmaster used to hide behind the curtains at some of the VERY large ones.

My most royal brother used to go and patrol the border to avoid a party on his birthday.
