[ Adachi's been busy, between parsing together what he pulled out of the investigation, to just recovering after all that time running on bare minimum sleep, so his response to it all is late in coming. Even now, he still looks like the dark circles under his eyes are permanent fixtures, and he paused a moment to rub at his eyes, as if it would help. ]

I've been thinking about it for the past few days, and I realize I'm pretty rusty with my judo. I uh...

[ He hesitated, making a face that was more directed at himself. It didn't matter what he did or who he talked to: asking for things like this and forcing himself to be a social human being was hard. ]

I-I could use someone to practice with. Get back into shape, you know?

[ Adachi sunk back a little reaching to rub at the back of his neck. ]

Also, it's my birthday today. I could use a drinking buddy for later; I don't want to spend turning thirty by myself.

[ He's pretty familiar with all the good bars at this point. Perks of being a cop or something, something drinking habit. ]

Hold up at the porter; I'll meet you there.

[ And after a brief talk with Yuuri to tell him he's going out for the evening (though he doesn't say with who), Viktor heads out and waits in front of the porter. He waves once he spots Adachi approaching. ]

[ It's a bit before Adachi shows up -- because if he could have a fourth power, it would be that he was always late forever -- and when he does, he had to stop dead, a look of morbid surprise crossing his face. For fuck's sake, he was as tall as Dojima's brat, and had grey hair. At least it wasn't a damn bowlcut, but still. Fuck his life. ]

[ He ran a hand over his face as he recovered, shoving his hands in his pockets. ]

[ Excuse you, it's Mary Sue platinum blond slash silver hair tyvm. He is tall though, and definitely built like an athlete under his semi-expensive looking clothes he brought with him to this world; he probably looks like a damn model.

If he noticed Adachi's surprise or his lateness, he doesn't show it in his friendly greeting. ]

Hi! I was beginning to think you stood me up. Ready to go?

[ Well. Mostly friendly. ]

[ Stood him up!? Oh for-- Adachi's ears turn entirely red before the rest of his face does. ]

G-geeze, don't make this sound like a date.

[ Viktor laughs brightly and unashamedly at his blushing. ]

We're meeting at a set time and place to go out together. Isn't that a date?

[ Great. All he needs is for someone like Bull or Kaneda to hear this. Adachi puffed out his cheeks, moving to go past him. ]

W-whatever, let's just go, so I can show you just how good a Japanese man is at drinking!

[ Viktor falls in step with him, just slightly behind and still amused at his consternation. ]

Haha, I'm actually familiar with how some Japanese men drink. We'll see how you measure up!

[ Oh right, the kid. Ugh... Adachi let out a rude noise as he stepped into the porter that carried over once they ported over to De Chima. ]

...too many damn people around. I dunno how anyone can keep track of them all.

[ He's mostly talking to himself, wondering how the hell the brat had done it. Not only did he have his little Nonvestigation Team, but about half of Inaba wrapped around his little pinky finger. He still couldn't even remember Pumpqueen's name, and he was pretty sure she was gone anyway. ]

[ Viktor glances at him with the noise, but doesn't comment on it as they step out of the porter. He does look over again when he hears him speaking. ]

Ah? Did you say something?

[ Adachi paused, before letting out a breath. ]

Nevermind. Sorry. Just not used to being social; keeping track of everyone is hard.

[ Viktor smiles again, but it's bright and kind now instead of amused. ]

Keep track of? Because you're a detective, right?

[ Adachi waved a hand. ]

Just... keep track of in general.

[ He sunk into his coat a little, trying to hide the shamed look on his face. ]

...forgot your boyfriend was Japanese.

[ Nevermind they had a whole discussion on it. ]

[ Nope, never mind, the amusement is back and he's laughing again. It's still a kind laugh though, not ridiculing in any way. ]

Maybe because you're Japanese too? Familiarity and all that?

[ He let out a breath, running a hand over his face. ]

Maybe being here as long as I have is starting to get to me.

Eh... over a year now. Year and a half?

[ His shoulders slumped. ]

[ It's a long time to be away from the people he cares about, not that he wouldn't have been away from them anyway. Or... well, worse; Adachi reached up, absently rubbing the back of his neck. ]
