[THE SCENE: megan's room, which is decorated tastefully in floral patterns and pastels, almost making up for the fact that it is also a total disaster area. megan herself is standing in the middle, in view from the waist up--the comm seems to be resting on a desk.
there is a few seconds before megan does anything, apparently not having realized the broadcast has started. then she smiles, claps her hands together, and bounces on her heels a little bit, her wings fluttering in unison.]
Um, hello, Network! Omigod, this is my first post, isn't it? Well, hello, my name's Megan. Or Pixie, if we're being professional.
[she gives a small wave before continuing. her accent's some kind of british (welsh, for those who can tell).]
I don't know about you, but I thought paintball ended up being kind of rubbish! And I know there are a lot of people about my age around here, sooo, I was thinking, why don't we go have some fun for once? Like, a group outing, or something. I haven't been downtown too much yet, but there has to be some good clubs around, right?
Or we could go to the movies, or anything people would like to do. I just thought it might be nice to blow off some steam and hang out, considering everything that's been happening. What with the fake bodily injuries and crazy robots and all.
So, if you're interested, let me know and we can figure out what we're doing and when. Since it's summer, any day of the week should work, right? (Er, this place doesn't have a curfew, does it?)
Don't worry if we don't know each other, everyone's welcome, and maybe this way we can all meet new people! Anyway, that's all, carry on.

TEXT ADDENDUM, dated a few hours later: since the swearing ins this weekend im thinking well shoot for wednesday evening unless someone has an objection. we can meet in the park and figure out the way from there! see you then (/^▽^)/
[OOC: the intended result of this post is a semi-open everybody-hits-the-town log that I'll probably put up at some point in the next week. I'm trying to keep the specifics flexible. If you want to participate you can either have your character ICly RSVP to this post or just gatecrash the log, either's good.]

I haven't figured them out yet! They said in my file I could fly and it's not working. Maybe they were wrong?

Well...maybe it's a particular trigger? Or something? The military here seems to know everything...if they can be wrong about their own technology, I don't know what to think. So I'm sure you must be able to fly...somehow.
[she brightens.] If you figure out how to make it work, maybe I can teach you how to steer and such!
But--um, about the question, I guess it depends on what you're asking? But...go for it, I suppose.

[ Another sigh. What's the point of having superpowers if they don't work?
Her posture shifts and the dismay on her face drops. She's clearly worried about something. ]
Those wings aren't... human. [ Obviously. ] Um, are you not...?
[ Please don't scream at her a la Flame Princess. ]

What--human? Oh, no, not at all! I'm a mutant, you know. And a fairy.
[she smiles, then considers this for a moment, and her expression darkens.]
Though, my mum doesn't have any wings, so I don't know which side they come from. But either way, I'm not hardly human at all.

A... a fairy? I thought that was just a story. But what's a mutant?

[then she looks down, contemplatively.]
But mutants--in my world, a mutant is someone who's born with superpowers. And that's something that makes people scared of us, so we have to be careful. My--father was one, so I am too.
[she chews her lip.]
And...that's how I had my wings before I even came here. Plus...other things. It's a complicated situation, kind of. [to say the least.]

I'm afraid I don't really understand...
[ She looks on apologetically. She knows a bit what it's like to have people fear and hate her now, but it's not because she's different. In fact, she was the one who used to avoid those "different" from her not too long ago. ]
That's awful — that people are scared of you.

[she can tell she's made sasha concerned somehow, and decides to change the subject. after all, this is supposed to be a conversation about having fun.]
And it's not so bad, really. There's people who like us, too, since we save them from aliens and Juggernauts and stuff.

Um--yes! Sort of. Maybe? I suppose it depends on who you ask, but we try our best.

But even with that, people seem to be pretty cool with superhumans here. It's a nice change.

But...they didn't have carriages in 850, did they? That was, like, Romans or something. Well, I guess they had chariots...

Um...I think this might be, like, one of those weird alternate universe things. Because the Romans were huge, I think, so you probably should have heard of them? I don't know, this whole thing is stupid. And it doesn't matter, anyway.
I mean, regardless of what year it is, your world is definitely way more different from this one than mine is, right? And all technologically undeveloped and whatever. That's all we need to know, the end.
