Whether a man is a criminal or a hero is a matter of perspective.

But if you don't want to play your role anymore, and are removed from your motivation for being who you are, what do you do? Do you seek redemption and rehabilitation and transform as an individual, or do you repeat negative behavior? How much do you believe people change only because they are imPorted? In short, do you believe people can change?

If I had anybody willing to discuss this in private with me, I assure you, I'd not be raising the issue publically.

[ U G H; he's pretty sure he knows who this is, and that's part of the reason why it takes Adachi so long to reply. One, because freaking Crane; he wasn't going to rat him out, no matter how damn tempting it was. Two, because he went through something similar -- still was, really. It was hard to put how he felt about the whole situation into words, but... ]

People can change; the act of changing itself is the easy part. The hard part is being willing to go through with it, and figuring out the steps you need to take. It's never something that just happens, and depending on how you decide to go about it, it may not seem like you're doing much of anything at all. Some people will probably think you're just doing it for the attention, especially if you did anything here already that was pretty bad.

All it takes is one person to realize you're making an effort, though. Once one person sees it, eventually others will too.

Yes, but what if that one person isn't somebody you enjoy the company of? What if they figure up a total of their invidividual worth that sums higher than yours? How do you get rid of unwanted attention? You seem to focus on change out of everything I've mentioned. Why?

Because I had this dilemma myself before I came here, where I knew I needed to change things. I'm still struggling with the how part though.

There's always some asshole like that. They're infuriating to deal with because they always seem like they know better. And they're always trying to act like they know YOU. I know someone like that at home; had the satisfaction of punching him at least once too.

But. As much of a pain in the ass as these people are? They are being genuine, and don't really think they're better than you. They just want the best for you, no matter how much it doesn't seem that way.

You unwisely place your faith in people. I don't accept such risk, personally. Take those annoying people you describe; they're not being genuine they're just being selfish. Better not to have anything to do with them at all.

I don't put words to paper if I wish to lie or doubt myself. Disseminating the truth isn't my style.

There's a word for that. I think it's "stubborn".

Might want to try looking at thinks from a different perspective sometime. Might help.

Call it whatever you want, but you being that objectionable calls to question whether or not you really do want change, or if you're just bored.

Do I seem like a person who's bored to you? Knowing as much as you think you do, I would have thought you would label me as frustrated.

If you're asking people for advice on how to not play your "role," I think you need to re-evaluate the definition of enjoying something.

Don't be curt with me. Sometimes we must grease the wheels, rather than lose control to our pleasurable impulses. And sometimes, we must accept that our advice is useless to certain people.
